Glassworkers:
If you are a glassworker, or if you are working with any glassworkers, please be informed that the monthly Meeting/training will be in person in lecture hall at FTI starting at 5pm. All COVID-19 mandates are in place so please wear masks and practice social distancing.
Journeyperson Courses:
The FTI has several training courses upcoming over the next few weeks and months and I wanted to make sure that you were aware of them and we would love to see every class filled! We follow all COVID protocols to keep everyone safe and have some online courses available as well.
Architectural Glass and Metal Technician Certification- March 17 Hands on TBA (June)
The industry leading Glazier certification requires a passing score in the Knowledge Based Testing as well as the Performance Based Testing. The KBT is comprised of a 125 multiple choice written exam and the PBT focuses on Curtainwall, Storefront, and sealant application in a hands-on setting. March 17is the KBT ONLY! Please contact the Glaziers training staff for more information. Training is available for all topics and hands-on portions.
NCCCO Mobile Crane -Classroom: 3/16

This class is designed to get the student ready to take the NCCCO Mobile Operator Certification test. It follows manufacturer guidelines, and the OSHA standard, for safe and proper operating procedures. The class is two four-hour nights of classroom training, one full Saturday of hands on training, and one full Saturday dedicated to NCCCO certification testing. Students will need to fill out third party registration paperwork in addition to signing up for this class. A Glazier instructor will reach out to each registrant for this purpose shortly after registration is received, but it is important to individually follow up with the training staff if contact has not been made.
Welding
We have journeyperson welding courses scheduled on Monday nights, where you can earn your 3G or 4G certs or re-certify if your certifications have expired. We also offer Mig/Tig classes if you are interested.
Basic Hardware- Tonight!! Plenty of space!!
This course includes classroom related instruction such as terminology, processes, and best practices, as well as hands-on shop work. The class is designed for the glazier with little experience working with doors and closers. Students will be exposed to and instructed in the general installation of doors and basic hardware such as surface mounted closing devices, as well as the use and function of locks and bolts and how they are installed. Students should be prepared to wear work boots and work clothes. Duration: One four-hour night.
