Celebrating a major win! Our new program, Manufacturing Opportunities for Career Advancement (MOCA), just finished its first cohort! This program addresses the challenges of critical labor shortages in manufacturing and connects participants with entry-level jobs in the field. Thank you to Philadelphia Works, Inc. for supporting us with the program! And another major thank you to Senator Joe Picozzi and Ehmke Manufacturing for speaking to our recent graduates!

What does it mean to be a resident?

Join The Welcoming Center and WHYY for Exploring Trends: Immigration’s Regional Impact, an in-person conversation exploring how immigrants shape the communities they call home.

The event will debut the second edition of our expanded report, featuring new data on entrepreneurship, homeownership, taxes, workforce participation, education, and civic life. Together, we’ll examine how communities create the conditions for people to put down roots, contribute, and strengthen the places they call home.

Tuesday, October 6 | 9–11 a.m.
WHYY | 150 N. 6th Street, Philadelphia

Join us for the conversation and the launch of a more comprehensive picture of immigration’s impact across our region. Register here: https://support.whyy.org/page/101291/event/1?locale=en-US

More from our programs! 💙 As we wrap up our spring programming, we’re reflecting on the incredible accomplishments of our participants. From graduating from programs and hosting community events to launching business plans and taking bold steps toward their goals, they continue to inspire us every day.

We are so proud of each and every member of the TWC community and grateful to be part of their journey.

Last week, we celebrated the conclusion of our English for Workplace Communication class. While every graduation is one of the most rewarding moments of our work, this one was especially meaningful because it marked the first graduation as part of our expansion efforts.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible, including our incredible program team, Kennett Library for making every collaboration impactful, and our city partners for providing the funding that allows us to expand our reach. And of course, most importantly, thank you to our participants, who inspire us every day and remind us why this work matters. THANK YOU! 🎉
