Our founder met with community members in South Philly to discuss issues and opportunities impacting South Philly. One of the major topics of discussion was the development of the old oil refinery.

There are a host of opportunities that project presents for Philadelphia and the South Philly community. It is imperative to ensure community members have access to the information and the ability to weigh in on decisions.

When Donte was murdered, our founder and executive director Victoria, vowed to fight for him and the countless others who tragically lost their life to senseless acts of violence.

Sometimes it feels like nothing will ever change because as we take 2 steps forward, it feels like we are force to take 4 steps back.

Everyday we loss a promising soul and future due to senseless gun violence.

This problem doesn’t discriminate.

Everyone has to care because their lives depend on it. But in caring, it is imperative to seek to understand those greatly impacted and know that families are left broken and behind. Treat them with respect, dignity,and honor or stay away.

Today our founder spoke on a panel at Youth Summit focusing on gun violence prevention.

Victoria’s message was clear: “life will have its challenges nothing will come easy.” Be ready to go through the trails of life but turn your pain into purpose because we do not have to be products of our environment just people who thrive despite it. “

Yesterday opened her art exhibition: We are Here: Stories & Expressions of Co Victims of Violence at City Hall. The Donte Wylie Foundation was created to provide resources and services to individuals impacted by violence directly and indirectly.

Ock the artist created a portrait of our founder and her mother Kim who have been fighting the fight to end gun violence for over 14 years.

Thank you for highlighting the families who sometimes are forgotten as time goes on.

Last Friday, we kicked off our initiative to restore and rebrand Mc. Daniel Elementary School…

We hosted Mc. Daniel’s first ever Spirit Day!

Mc. Daniel has experienced some challenges these last couple of years with leadership, funding, teacher turnover, and resources.

We are exciting to begin to change the narrative of Mc. Daniel for its students and families. The students deserve a high quality education and a school that is resourced and sets them up for success.

We would like to thank all of our community partners who help make this event possible. Your dedication to ensuring children receive high quality opportunities doesn’t go unnoticed!

This year toy giveaway was simply amazing…

Donte loved Christmas, so every year we honor him by bringing joy to children in South Philly.

We hope Donte is pleased and hope all the families and children lives we’ve touched for over a decade know how much we care.

Thanks and everyone else who made this day special for the children and families in our community.
