AASHE is an association of colleges and universities that work to create a sustainable future. AASHE provides resources, professional development opportunities and a network of support to enable institutions of higher education to model and advance sustainability in everything they do, from governance to curriculum advancements. One way AASHE supports the advancement of sustainability at colleges and universities is by convening experts and collecting, evaluating and disseminating information and tools to increase the understanding of sustainability and its relevance to higher education stakeholders. AASHE defines sustainability in an inclusive way, encompassing human and ecological health, social justice, secure livelihoods and a better world for all generations

How can communities of practice help advance sustainability across campuses?

Join AASHE on October 14 from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. ET for our upcoming webinar, Communities of Practice as Launchpads for Sustainability Across the Campus.

Hear how a Climate Solutions Community of Practice brought faculty and staff from eight SUNY campuses together to integrate climate solutions into coursework, expand experiential learning opportunities, and develop collaborative sustainability initiatives.

The results? 23 undergraduate courses redesigned across 15 academic disciplines, reaching an estimated 3,000 students annually.

That’s a wrap on ! 💚

Over the past three days in Baltimore, the higher education sustainability community came together to learn, share ideas, tackle challenges, celebrate progress, and strengthen the connections that move our work forward. From inspiring keynotes and thought-provoking sessions to conversations in the Expo Hall and connections made in the hallways, we’re leaving Baltimore energized by everything this community brought to .

A huge thank you to our speakers, presenters, sponsors, host institutions, exhibitors, partners, and every attendee who helped make this year’s conference possible. We hope you’re heading home with new ideas, new connections, and renewed energy for the work ahead.

The AASHE 2026 Conference & Expo is already underway in Baltimore, and we’re thrilled to welcome the higher education sustainability community for three days of learning, connection, and inspiration.

🌟 Get ready for STARS in 2027!

Registration is open for the 2027 STARS Support Cohort, a year-long program offering hands-on training and support to guide participants through the STARS reporting process.

Participants will meet monthly with AASHE staff and peers to explore the STARS framework, data collection strategies, credit criteria, common reporting errors, and more. With STARS 3.1 on the way, the cohort is a great opportunity to build your understanding of both the 3.0 and new 3.1 frameworks while making progress toward your next STARS rating.

Plus, new STARS subscriptions are 20% off through December 31, with the discount automatically applied. STARS subscription prices increase on January 1, so now is a great time to get started.
