Dear Family and Friends,
On Friday, November 15th, the Dave Palmer Memorial Foundation will be hosting our annual Night at the Races at WHITEMARSH VALLEY EVENT CENTER (American Legion) in Fort Washington, PA. I am not reaching out to round up attendees (although there is plenty of fun, food, and “spirits” and all are welcomed); however, I am reaching out to see if you would be interested in sponsoring a race ($100, and you own horse #1 in the race you sponsor) or buying a horse ($10 each, pays $35 when you horse wins).
Hard to believe our foundation is in year 32. We are driven with new energy every time we get a new application or re-read the thank you notes from families we’ve helped.
I’m attaching our flyer and information (below) about our foundation. Please take a look and see if you would be interested in a donation. If so, you can simply respond to me with an IOU and fun horse name(s), and I will cover costs till we see each other. If monetary contributions are an issue, I understand and ask that you keep these families in your prayers.
Your contributions and prayers are certain to help kids at what is the toughest time in their lives.
Any questions? Please do not hesitate to reach out
If you respond by Wednesday, Nov 6th, we can guarantee to get you name pre-printed on event material; otherwise just reach out by Thursday, Nov 14th and we will manually update your info on our display board.
Many thanks for your consideration ❤️
(Cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle are all payment options)
Info about Dave Palmer Memorial Foundation:
The Dave Palmer Memorial Foundation was founded in the Fall of 1992 after David Palmer died suddenly, of natural causes in June 1992 at the age of 29. Dave left behind a 2 year old son, and a wife who was several months pregnant with their daughter. Dave’s sudden and unexpected passing caused a group of his closest friends to see firsthand how the loss of a parent is not only a terrific emotional harm to children, but one that also leaves many children and their surviving parent facing some unforgiving financial hurdles. We created this Foundation for the sole purpose of helping children who face financial difficulties because of the untimely death of a parent. We are proud to report that, to date, we have distributed close to $625,000 to help hundreds of children from families throughout the Delaware Valley. Each story we hear of seems sadder than the last, and we wish we could do more. We don’t ask these families to help us raise funds. Indeed, the only thing we ever ask of the children we help is that, if they are ever in a position to help someone along their way, that they do so.
The Dave Palmer Memorial Foundation is a tax exempt, 501(c)(iii) organization. We are registered with the Commonwealth’s Bureau of Charitable Organizations, and are a participating agency in the United Way and many other payroll deduction and matching gift campaigns run by larger employers in the area. We are truly a grass roots’ organization. We generate contributions through the tireless efforts of many volunteers and our twelve member Board of Directors, who are also all volunteers. During our 25 year history we have received grants from organizations such as Phillies Charities, and the Oreland Lions. We pay no salaries. Moreover, the board members cover most of our administrative overhead.
