Remember Animal Protective League? ❤️
After a tornado devastated their shelter and clinic in June, a Fido Fixers van headed to Springfield, Illinois, to help keep their spay/neuter program running while they rebuild.
Well, look at them now! Since mid-July, APL has completed 727 spay/neuters aboard Fido!
We couldn’t be prouder to see our mobile clinic helping APL continue this important work for their community. 🐾

They’ve been adopted. Their families are waiting. But they can’t go home yet.

At LA Animal Services, dogs are finding great homes, but there’s another challenge happening behind the scenes. Adopted pets need to be spayed or neutered before they can leave, and limited surgical capacity can mean kennels filled with animals who already have families waiting for them.

That’s where our Fido Fixers partner, The Rescue Train, steps in.

They pull up to the shelter in their Fido Fixers mobile surgical clinic and get to work — spaying and neutering adopted pets so they can be cleared to leave the shelter and go home with their new families.

Think about the impact of that one day of surgery: kennels open up for animals who still need help, adopted pets get home faster, families get the pets they’ve been waiting for, and the shelter can keep moving animals through its doors.

This is exactly why mobile spay and neuter matters.

Sometimes a Fido van isn't just bringing surgery to a community. It's the final step between a shelter pet and home. 🐾

1,000 surgeries and counting!

We’re so proud of our Fido partner, Planned PEThood of GA, for reaching this incredible milestone with their Fido Fixer! Their team has provided 1,000 spay and neuter surgeries for pets and community cats across Georgia.

This is exactly what Fido is all about: bringing care directly into communities and preventing pet overpopulation one surgery at a time.

For decades, animal welfare has focused on saving animals after they enter shelters.

Today, we must place just as much emphasis on preventing unwanted litters before they are born.

Across the country, veterinary shortages, rising costs, long waitlists, and the loss of affordable spay/neuter programs are making surgery harder to access.

When families can't find or afford an appointment, pets remain unaltered, accidental litters increase, and already overwhelmed shelters feel the impact.

This is why spay and neuter must remain at the center of the national conversation about pet homelessness.

We cannot adopt our way out of pet overpopulation.

Rescue and adoption are essential, but they address the crisis after animals are already born. Accessible spay/neuter addresses it at the source.

When disaster strikes, access to veterinary care shouldn't disappear.

In June, a tornado devastated the Animal Protective League's shelter and clinic in Springfield, Illinois. Surgeries were canceled, and a community suddenly found itself without a place to turn.

That's where Fido Fixers stepped in.

One of our mobile spay/neuter clinics made the journey from Massachusetts to Illinois, bringing a fully equipped operating room on wheels so APL can continue providing affordable, high-quality spay/neuter services while they rebuild.

This is exactly why Fido Fixers exists. Our fleet is more than nine mobile clinics. It's a national network that can adapt, respond, and help keep lifesaving services available when communities need them most.
