We were pleased to welcome Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson , Majority Leader, to our recent Lawncrest Community Association meeting to share updates on important work happening in our city and community.
Councilwoman Gilmore Richardson has been a longtime friend to our neighborhood and someone who has consistently worked alongside our community on issues that matter. From efforts to curb nuisance businesses and hold property owners accountable, to helping support legislation addressing concerns around smoke shops selling illegal paraphernalia, sales to minors, and quality-of-life issues like loitering and unwanted traffic — she has been a strong partner in the fight to keep our neighborhoods safe and thriving.
We also appreciated her taking time to talk about opportunities for our young people, including careers in the trades and pathways to family-sustaining jobs that don’t begin with years of debt. She even brought along a valuable resource booklet to help connect the next generation with opportunities that can build strong futures.
Thank you, Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson , for continuing to show up, listen, and work alongside our community.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at the Lawncrest Community Association 💐

Today we celebrate the women who keep families together, show up when it matters most, and give love, guidance, and strength even on the hardest days. Mothers are often the heart of our homes, our neighborhoods, and our communities.

To every mom, grandmother, aunt, guardian, and mother figure — we thank you for all that you do, often without recognition. We hope today brings you a little extra joy, appreciation, and time surrounded by the people who love you most.

Sending love today to those celebrating, those remembering, and anyone finding this day difficult. Wishing everyone a peaceful and love-filled Mother’s Day! 💐

Stay safe and warm out there, and don’t forget to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, disabled, and single parents. Keep an eye on the temperature and let those faucets drip to prevent freezing pipes. It’s time to head to the store and stock up on enough provisions for up to three days.Be prepared—there will be no trash pickup tomorrow, and schools will only operate virtually; in-person classes are canceled. ❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️
