Marlee’s Story

At 8 years old Marlee was a beautiful, vibrant, and healthy little girl. She had a smile that would brighten a room. Marlee was full of energy and had a zest for life. She began complaining of headaches and nausea. When traditional medicine did not relieve her symptoms, Marlee was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where a CT scan of her brain was performed. The results were devastating. On December 15, 2016, Marlee was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG for short.

DIPG is a rare, aggressive, inoperative brain tumor/cancer that is terminal upon diagnosis. Statistics show a less than 1% survival rate. Marlee’s tumor was located in her brainstem making her prognosis poor. DIPG has no cure. Only treatment option offered was radiation. Radiation does not eradicate DIPG. On January 4, 2018, Marlee lost her battle with DIPG and gained her wings
