es una cooperativa en formación, creada para apoyar en Filadelfia con la distribución del pinole POTEHTLI (pinole en Nahuatl) que proviene de la comunidad de San Mateo Ozolco localizada en el estado de Puebla. BCA trabaja en conjunto con otra cooperativa formada en Ozolco conocida como “AMIGOS DE OZOLCO”; quienes se dedican al cultivo orgánico del maíz azul; a la elaboración de pinole y tostadas de tortillas azul; ya la venta de estos productos dentro de las ciudades de Cholula y Puebla. Objetivos del proyecto:
- Empoderamiento y formación de liderazgo dentro de la comunidad latina en el sur de Filadelfia
- Llevar a cabo la filosofía de comercio justo para crear un negocio sustentable para Ozolco y la comunidad latina en los Estados Unidos. Con efecto de disminuir la emigración al norte por parte de los adolescentes.
- Dar a conocer un producto tan arraigado a nuestra cultura otorgándole un valor agregado con la creación de nuevos productos elaborados con pinole
- Cultivado de manera orgánica con el fin de no contaminar, la tierra, el maíz o nuestro cuerpo al consumir estos productos. BLUE CORN ALIANZA (BCA) is a Co-Op that is being structured to support the sale of the pinole (blue cornmeal) called POTEHLIT, which means pinole in Nahuatl the ancient Aztec language, in the city of Philadelphia. This pinole comes from a small community called San Mateo Ozolco from the state of Puebla located in the mid highlands of Mexico. BCA works along with another Co-Op organized in Ozolco called “Amigos de Ozolco”, whose dedication is mainly growing this blue corn, producing the cornmeal and tostadas (whole tortilla chip), and distributing it in the cities of Cholula and Puebla. Objectives of the project:
- Empowering and developing leadership within the Latino community in South Philly
- Take hands onto the fair trade system by creating a sustainable business for the farmers in Ozolco and the Latino community based in Philly. So that the emigration to the US can be leveled off in some proportion.
- Inform this product that is extremely linked to the Mexican pre-hispanic culture by adding value to this crop by preparing more product with the blue corn
