A note from Nellie Bly’s dad, Nathan 💕

Before Nellie Bly was my best friend, she was a tiny kitten trying to survive on the streets of Philadelphia.

She didn’t know that one day she’d have a home. She didn’t know she’d have a family obsessed with her. She didn’t know she’d be safe. She just needed someone to give her a chance.

Fishtails Animal Rescue did exactly that.

They gave Nellie the medical care she needed, food, a safe foster home, and the time to become the spoiled, deeply loved girl she is today. And somewhere in Philadelphia right now, there is another Nellie.

Another scared kitten. Another injured cat. Another animal waiting for someone to say, “We’ve got you.”

That’s why I’m participating in Fishtails’ Tails of Second Chances fundraiser and raising $1,000 in Nellie Bly’s honor.

Nellie got her second chance. Now I want to help give one to someone else.

If you can donate, share, or start a team in honor of the animal who changed your life, it would mean so much to me.

Because sometimes a second chance becomes your best friend. 🩷🐾

— Nathan, Nellie Bly’s very lucky dad

🚨 EVERYONE ELSE GOT THEIR YES. RACHEL + SARAH ARE STILL WAITING. 🚨

Every other cat from our urgent placement list has somewhere to go. Except these two. And by MONDAY, Rachel and Sarah each need a foster home of their own. 💔

🐾 RACHEL

Rachel already gave everything she had to her babies. She gave birth to four kittens last December and spent months feeding them, protecting them, loving them, and raising them.
One by one, her babies found homes.

Rachel watched them all leave. Now she’s healthy again. She’s gained her weight back. She’s chatty, affectionate, full of personality… and somehow, she’s still the one waiting. She spent so long being someone’s mom.

Can someone finally let Rachel be someone’s baby? 🥺

🐾 SARAH

Sarah is our sweet little chunky monkey who wants a quiet life, a soft place to land, and a human to call her own.

She loves affection, cozy naps, and being close to her people. She just needs someone who understands when she’s had enough pets and gives her the space to decompress. Sarah would do best as your one and only pet. No competition.
Just Sarah, finally getting to feel safe and chosen. 🤍

We found a place for everyone else.

Please don’t let Rachel and Sarah be the ones left behind.

🏡 TWO separate foster homes needed by MONDAY
📍 Philadelphia area or within 75 miles

If you can’t foster, share this like their lives depend on it.

Because sometimes the difference between “still waiting” and “safe” is one person seeing the right post at the right time.

He came into rescue with his kittens. We didn’t expect him to choose one of them forever. 🥹 But that’s exactly what Butcher did.

From the beginning, it was obvious that he and his daughter Annie were different. They weren’t just comfortable together. They were bonded.

They sleep together. They groom each other. They play together. They look for each other. And now, little by little, they’re starting to trust us too. 🖤

They’re getting brave enough to sleep on the bed with their foster. Annie purrs when she lets you pet her. Butcher does too. They’re learning that hands can bring treats, that humans can be gentle, and that maybe being loved isn’t something they have to be afraid of.

Sometimes they still run. Sometimes they still tap the treat out of your hand before eating it. 😂 But every tiny bit of progress feels huge.

And through all of it, they have each other.

Butcher + Annie are looking for a patient forever home together, ideally with a friendly, confident cat who can show them the ropes and help them keep coming out of their shells.

They may not be the cats who run into your arms on day one.
But they are the kind of cats who will make you cry the first time they choose to stay.

Dad chose his girl. Now they just need someone to choose them. 🥹🖤

Apply to adopt Butcher + Annie at farsaves.com.

Please share. Their person might be one scroll away.

💘 VALENTINE HAS OFFICIALLY FAILED FOSTER CARE. 💘

And by “failed,” we mean she never left. 🥹 Our tiny Valentine came to Fishtails at just one year old with a cleft palate that took THREE surgeries to repair. While she may need one more revision, she’s living her best life 🫶

She healed. She blossomed. She moved into foster care. And then she basically said, “Great, thanks. I’ll be staying.” 😂💕

Her foster family is now her FOREVER family, and Valentine is out here living the soft life she worked very hard for: window-sill lounging, tunnel shenanigans, endless playtime, and a growing friendship with her new brother, Slim Jim. 😭

Her family says she’s sweet, playful, thriving, and more obsessed with Slim Jim every day.

Honestly? Valentine understood the assignment:
✨ survive
✨ heal
✨ steal everyone’s heart
✨ acquire permanent residence

Fostering saves lives. Sometimes it also accidentally gets you a cat. 😌🐾 Want to risk falling hopelessly in love with your foster too?

🚨 URGENT: SIX CATS NEED PLACEMENT BY 8/31. 🚨

Please stop scrolling.

We have six cats who need fosters or adopters before August 31 …and some of them have already been shared over and over with no one stepping up.

🐾 TOAST + PENELOPE — bonded FAR alumni being returned through no fault of their own. Toast is affectionate and playful. Penelope is shy and needs a quiet, low-stimulation home. They must stay together.

🐾 MILO — the cat so many of you followed when he was reunited with his family after being missing for a year. Now they’re moving and can’t keep him. He is extremely friendly, loves people, and is cat-friendly. We can only take him if we have a foster.

🐾 RACHEL — raised four kittens. Every one of them found a home. She didn’t. She’s sweet, talkative, affectionate, and ready for someone to finally choose her.

🐾 SARAH — our chunky monkey. 🥹 Sweet, calm, affectionate, and looking for a home where she can be the only pet and soak up all the love.

🐾 POPPY — 7–8 years old, found stray with dog-bite wounds and later diagnosed with diabetes. She is incredibly sweet and well controlled on 1 unit of Lantus twice daily. She is still living in a hospital because no one has stepped up.

Please don’t let the word diabetic make you scroll past her.

💔 FIVE STORIES. SIX CATS. ONE DEADLINE.

AUGUST 31.

We need fosters.
We need adopters.
We need someone to say, “I can help.”

Apply at farsaves.com or through the link in our bio.And if you can’t foster or adopt, send this post directly to someone who might.

Because shares only work if they reach the person who says yes. 🖤
