Meet Gabriel Anthony Muhammed—a Black man committed to healing, growth, and living in his authentic truth.

In this feature, Gabriel shares how essential therapy has been in his own journey and the gratitude he has for finding the right therapeutic support. Through doing the work, he’s experienced firsthand what can happen when Black men give themselves permission to heal, open up, and grow.

Now, he hopes his example can encourage other Black men to seek the healing they deserve and understand that growth is possible when we dedicate ourselves to the process and have the courage to live authentically. 🖤

We’re grateful for Gabriel’s vulnerability and willingness to use his story to help another brother take that first step.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, highlighting the real healing journeys of Black men.

Meet Nydair Rouse—former NFL player whose journey after football forced him to confront a powerful question: “Who am I without the game?”

In this feature, Nydair opens up about the identity struggles he experienced after stepping away from football and how therapy helped him become more comfortable expressing what he was truly feeling.

Through healing, he also learned an important lesson: who you are at your core doesn’t have to be defined by what you do—or by what others think of you.

We appreciate Nydair’s vulnerability and willingness to share a journey that so many men experience when a career, title, or role they’ve built their identity around comes to an end.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, highlighting the real healing journeys of Black men.

🖤 You are more than your title. More than your career. More than the expectations placed on you.

📚💪🏾 DOPE DADS are showing up for Back 2 School!

It takes a village—and the men in our children’s lives are an important part of that village. Whether you’re a Dad, Granddad, Stepdad, Uncle, Older Brother, Godfather, Foster Dad, Mentor, or another positive male figure, this is an opportunity to show our young people that we’re present, invested, and cheering them on.

Join CocoLife.black and community partners for the DOPE DADS: Celebrating Back 2 School campaign:

📸 8/24 — Walk With Us
🤝🏾 8/26 — Meet A Teacher
💬 8/28 — Share A Word of Encouragement

Showing up matters. Our kids remember who walked beside them, who encouraged them, and who reminded them that they were capable.

Black Men Heal is proud to amplify opportunities that encourage healthy fatherhood, mentorship, community connection, and positive Black male presence. 👑

Every step counts. Every voice matters. Let’s show up for our kids! 💙📚

Meet Desmond Wynn—former NFL player, father, and a man committed to doing the work of healing.

After an injury brought his football career to an early end, Desmond found himself facing a difficult question: Who am I when the game is gone?

In this powerful conversation, he opens up about navigating an identity crisis, being a single father and wanting to set an example for his son, and how therapy helped him begin peeling back the layers of trauma, pain, and hurt he had carried through life.

We’re incredibly grateful for the raw emotion, honesty, and vulnerability Desmond brought to this conversation. His story is a reminder that there is strength in confronting what we’ve been through—and even greater strength in choosing to heal.

A Crisis We Can’t Ignore.

The latest CDC data reveals a heartbreaking reality: su***de rates among Black Americans increased 53% between 2014 and 2024, with Black boys and young men facing some of the steepest increases. These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent fathers, sons, brothers, friends, and members of our community who deserve access to healing.

At Black Men Heal, we’re working every day to change this story by removing barriers to culturally attuned mental health care for men of color.

That’s why our Beyond the Game: One Yard Closer to Healing campaign is so important. Our goal is to raise $150,000 to provide free therapy and mental health services to men of color who might otherwise go without the support they need.

Healing saves lives. Your support helps make that healing possible.

Every contribution moves us one yard closer to a future where more Black men choose healing over suffering in silence.
