While we’ve scaled back on social events, our commitment to advocacy remains strong. We’re here to support individuals who reach out and continue providing LGBTQIA+ cultural humility training.
It’s disheartening that neither the FOP nor the current campaigns have acknowledged Pride this year. This sends a troubling message to our members and those silently struggling—it suggests our voices don’t matter. For many lodge members who aren’t LGBTQIA+, they have friends and family who are, and we all deserve recognition.
June is Pride Month, not Veterans Month (in November) or Military Appreciation Month (in May). A simple acknowledgment can show that we see you, support you, and you matter. Recognizing Pride doesn’t take away from honoring other groups—it adds to the strength of our collective commitment to equity.
As teams come to you asking for your vote, consider if they are truly inclusive of you and those you love or just playing the game. Let’s keep advocating for one another and pushing for the representation we deserve. Together, we can make a difference! 🏳️🌈💪
