Friends of Harrowgate Park Friends of Harrowgate Park empowers our neighborhood’s diverse community to activate and advocate for a vibrant, welcoming space. in Philadelphia.

Located at the corner of E Tioga Street & the 3400 block of Kensington Avenue, Harrowgate Park lies in the Harrowgate neighborhood of Philadelphia. Harrowgate was established in 1784 by Capt. George Esterly, a Revolutionary War veteran, discovered springs in what is now the site of Harrowgate Square (Park). The spring water was pronounced healthful by Dr. Benjamin Rush, and Esterly established a s

pa there, with gardens, overnight accommodations, food and drink, occasional concerts, and coach service from Second and Market Sts. Today, Harrowgate Park is easily reached by bus, Market-Frankford El line (Tioga Station), or bike. Harrowgate Park is owned by the City and under the management of the Department of Parks & Recreation.

Major News! 🚸📣🚧🚲 Thank you to Councilman Mike Driscoll for providing the funding for repairs to the pathways and sidewalks as well as 18 new benches for Harrowgate Park. Construction begins April 20, 2026 and will go one for 6-8 weeks, but the park will remain open! 🌳
