One legendary PHL24 soundtrack 🎵

All day long, through the night, and into the very wet morning, Bennie and Ira kept the music going.

Making it look easy, their skill is in keeping the energy just right through the music.

These guys could have been anywhere else, but they chose to be right where we needed them. And we’re so grateful. For 24 hours, they were the heartbeat accompanying every footstep.

This is what PHL24 is about: people showing up, putting their talents to work, and coming together to make a difference for cancer patients and their families.

It’s taking us a while to thank everyone who made PHL24 such a success because it took a lot of incredible people to make it happen.

Today, we’re celebrating Joshua Manders, a first-year Sponsored Athlete.

Josh is quiet, focused, and determined, but don’t let his calm demeanor fool you. He came to PHL24 ready to make a difference, and his impact on the steps was anything but quiet.

He didn’t stop.

Even with his knee taped up and the rain coming down hard, he kept climbing. And his determination extended far beyond the steps: Josh raised more than $22,000 to support cancer patients and families in the Philadelphia area.

He wasn’t climbing because people were watching. He was climbing to make a lasting difference for people facing cancer.

Josh climbed in honor of his brother, Jacob, and his friends, Jaclyn and Matt.

We’re sure they are incredibly proud 💛

Thank you Josh Manders for showing us what determination looks like, for inspiring everyone around you, and for proving that every step and every dollar can make a difference.

Every PHL24 athlete gives everything they have and today, we’re taking a moment to recognize one of them.

From his very first step Bryce Lexow put his head down and kept moving for 81.1 miles (a course record!). Through the heat of the day and the torrential downpours of the early morning, he kept climbing until the job was done.

But the miles are only part of the story.

What stands out is the perseverance behind every step; the choice to keep showing up when it’s hard, to take one more step and then another, knowing that every step is helping someone else keep going, too.

That’s the spirit of PHL24 🏛💛

To Bryce, and every athlete that climbed this year: 🙏Thank you for putting one foot in front of the other for 24 hours and for reminding us what it looks like to keep going when the road gets hard. You have made a lasting impact.

A heartfelt thank you to the Philadelphia Police Department for standing with Legacy of Hope during PHL24, and throughout the entire year.

Every week, your support helps us make a difference for cancer patients in our city, making sure they have food on their tables for themselves ans their families. And during PHL24, you were right there with us on the Art Museum steps. From providing around-the-clock manpower to helping with logistics and keeping our athletes safe as they climbed, your team played an important role in making this powerful day possible.

We’re incredibly grateful for your partnership, your commitment to our community, and the many ways you show up for Legacy of Hope, not just for PHL24, but all year long.

PHL24 is Legacy of Hope’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The money raised helps us provide cancer patients with healthy food and other basic necessities throughout the year.

As we continue thanking everyone who made this event possible, we’re keeping the patients we serve front and center.

Because it’s not really about the steps. It’s about the people.

The athletes climbed through four hours of hard rain. They kept going when it was cold, wet, and miserable, because stopping wasn’t an option. That same kind of grit shows up every day in the lives of the patients we serve.

Behind every request for help is a real person trying to survive cancer while also surviving everyday life.

▪️Jamal, a son caring for his 88-year-old mother, paying for her needs while sacrificing his own

▪️Tracey, a single mom with breast cancer, too sick to work. She lost her income and is now struggling to put food on the table, unable to feed her kids

▪️Anna, just beginning immunotherapy for liver cancer, working to rebuild her strength while making the choice between food and therapy

▪️Sam, forced to step away from work because of his diagnosis. His wife is also dealing with health issues, and five young children depend on them.

These aren’t statistics. They’re people.

And this is why PHL24 matters.

Every volunteer, donor, sponsor and participant helped turn one powerful day into real support for the people who need it most.

As we continue to thank everyone who makes PHL24 possible, we're keeping the patients we serve in our hearts and minds 💛

And one purpose 💛

They climbed the Art Museum steps all day and night so cancer patients in our city don’t have to choose between treatment and putting food on the table.

When the climb got tough, and it really did, they put their heads down and kept moving, standing alongside the people we serve so no one faces this fight alone.

Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors, friends, and family members who carried them to the finish.

The climbing is over. The need is not.

Just over $212,000 raised.

Help us reach $250,000 so we never have to turn anyone away.

Trevor Budny was one of a kind.

He was an amazing friend, husband, chef, and fierce supporter of Legacy of Hope.

We’re especially grateful for the way Trevor brought people together. Because of him, Team Trevor has become part of our Legacy of Hope family, and we’re honored to have these guys back on the steps with us again this year.
