Created by Mural Arts Philadelphia with the support of Councilman Bobby Henon, The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center brings the neighborhood and the arts together to create a unique hub for learning, creativity, and community engagement in Lower Northeast Philadelphia. The LAB offers free art classes for adults and youth, presents arts-focused events, and develops public art through its “artist-in-

residence” program. The artist-in-residence program anchors professional artists in the Tacony community by providing them with studio space at the LAB. During their residencies, the artists work with the community to develop public art in Tacony, as well as use the studio to create their own artwork. Every time we’re down, Knitathon can make it right…

It’s time for Knitathon: XOXO Y2K! We’re sooo excited to bring back our annual fiber arts fundraiser, this year benefitting our very own Tacony LAB!!! Whether you lived through it or live for it, the new millennium aesthetic has made its way back into our cultural mainstream. This year’s Knitathon theme echos our collective nostalgia for a time when everything seemed shiny and new and optimism for the future was at an all time high. We hope you’re able to join us November 14th and 15th to create with each other, show off your best Y2K fashion, and help raise funds for the LAB and all of its incredible programming!!

Catch us at the Tacony Summer Arts Festival this Saturday August 1st! Join us in celebrating our Teen Club and their unique designs at our first ever fashion show 👗 Any teen who comes to the festival is welcome to decorate, cut, tie, and reconstruct a tshirt on the spot and join the show! The festival runs from 11 am to 3 pm; you can catch the fashion show just outside the LAB at 12:30!

Our Open Studio hours have changed! We are currently open M-W with our usual hours, but Thursdays will only be for Teen Open Studio 3 pm to 8 pm. Fridays we are closed, aside from our events. Please note: we will not have any Kids Club classes during August! However we are excited to bring back some of our adult classes next month!
