So proud to work for an amazing organization like The Voice Foundation, it’s mission being so close to my heart. Very happy to have this editorial released in our journal, Journal of Voice! Thanks so much to our publisher Stefanie Jewell-Thomas, for helping to gather the data supporting our rich history detailing our involvement in publishing articles dealing with artificial intelligence and voice care. Also, thank you to our chairman, Robert T Sataloff for your mentorship and the opportunity to work with such wonderful and dedicated Voice professionals. To our community of clinicians, scientists, educators, performers, and students:

There are times when the world feels loud, polarized, and uncertain—and it can be hard to know how to respond. We believe one response is both clear and necessary: stand together in the name of science, pedagogy, and medicine.

Our field advances when we protect the conditions that make progress possible: evidence-based inquiry, academic freedom, ethical clinical practice, and respectful exchange among people who may not always agree—yet share a commitment to what is true and what helps patients and performers.

The Voice Foundation and our Symposium exist to convene that work. We are committed to creating a space where rigorous research can be presented, debated, improved, and translated into better care and better training. We are also committed to mentorship—because the next generation is watching how we lead when pressures rise.

We invite you to remain engaged, to keep showing up, and to keep building—together.

Had a wonderful afternoon presenting about AI research in Journal of Voice at the 10th Annual DIVA & IATS Conference and receiving DIVA VOICE World Voice Training and Rehabilitation Award for our work with keeping the latest in voice health research at the very forefront the latest, cutting edge technology. Thank you Sasha Divain for bringing us all together and for your excellent work!

It was a pleasure to see fellow Voice Foundation regulars, Jeanie LoVetri, Luke Steinhauer and Mausumi Sayamal, and to hear them speak so passionately about their topics.

Great to meet new colleague from around the world including Sandra Oberoi from London. It was great to hear about her important work as regional governor of NATS International.

Thanks to Mark Berardi and Eric Hunter for your input on preparing me for this talk and to Stefanie Jewell-Thomas for your detailed statistics from Elsevier.

As we gather at the close of another remarkable year, all of us at The Voice Foundation extend our warmest wishes for a joyful and restorative holiday season.

This year has brought both extraordinary achievements and meaningful challenges for our community. Through it all, we are deeply grateful for your continued support, dedication, and belief in our mission. Your generosity—whether through participation, advocacy, research, membership, or philanthropy—has allowed us to press forward in advancing voice care, education, science, and research during a time when such work has never been more vital.

In these challenging times, one truth stands stronger than ever: as a community, we can make a difference. Together we are nurturing the next generation of voice scientists, clinicians, teachers, and performers. Together we are supporting groundbreaking research that strengthens and saves the voices of the future. And together we reaffirm the importance of the human voice—its beauty, its power, and its fragility.

Thank you for being part of The Voice Foundation family. We look forward to continuing this important work with you in the year ahead.

Wishing you peace, health, and joy throughout the holiday season and beyond.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Robert Thayer Sataloff, MD, DMA, FACS, Chairman

Symposium 2025 was a resounding success for The Voice Foundation—an inspiring and unforgettable gathering that brought together voice professionals, scientists, clinicians, performers, and educators from around the world. This year’s event was marked by an extraordinary level of engagement and excellence. The presentations were insightful, innovative, and thought-provoking, reflecting the very best in voice research, pedagogy, and clinical practice. Our lectures were first-rate, offering valuable perspectives and advancing the conversation across disciplines. One of the undeniable highlights was the thrilling master class led by Renée Fleming, which captivated and inspired all who attended with her artistry and wisdom. The Gala was a spectacular evening, celebrating the remarkable achievements of our four distinguished honorees—Renée Fleming, Chandrika Tandon, Natalie Douglas, and Mike Miller—each of whom has made lasting contributions to the world of voice. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s Symposium such a success—from our presenters and volunteers to our attendees and generous supporters. We are proud of what we accomplished together and already look forward to next year!
