Yesterday was a full day of community engagement for CDVS!

We started the day at the 22nd District’s Fall Into Safety Community Festival at Mander Recreation Center, connecting with residents and spending time alongside so many of our fellow community organizations providing valuable resources, information, and services throughout Philadelphia.

Later, CDVS joined community partners at the Philadelphia Eagles Eagles Care Summit: Power Hour. This year’s Power Hour took a new approach. They created space for organizations to truly connect, learn more about one another’s work, identify what we need, discuss where gaps still exist, and explore how we can better support each other. This is for the individuals and families we collectively serve throughout Philadelphia and the Tri-State Area.

Community engagement isn’t only about showing up with resources. It’s also about building relationships, strengthening partnerships, sharing knowledge, and creating space for the people doing this work to connect with one another.

Sometimes, these moments can even be healing for those of us who spend so much of our time pouring into our communities. 💙 We’re grateful for another day of connection, collaboration, and community.

Our Community, Our Strength.

As we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th through October 15th, CDVS celebrates the culture, contributions, strength, and resilience of Hispanic and Latino communities.

We also recognize that seeking support after experiencing violence or trauma can be difficult and language should never be a barrier to receiving care, resources, or advocacy. CDVS is proud to offer bilingual services to help ensure Spanish-speaking survivors and co-survivors can access support in a language they are comfortable with.

This month and every month, we remain committed to showing up, creating welcoming spaces, and meeting our communities where they are.

What an amazing day of community, connection, and resources!

This weekend, CDVS had the pleasure of once again participating in The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation’s Annual Get Ready Fest, where more than 800 families were connected to valuable services and resources.

From food provided by Philabundance and health screenings from Jefferson Health to coats, community resources, and so much more, families were able to access support all in one place.

Days like today remind us just how powerful it is when organizations come together with one goal: supporting and strengthening our communities. We’re always grateful to be a part of it!

Today, we remember. We honor. We hold space. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years later, the impact of September 11th is still felt by survivors, co-survivors, families, first responders, and communities whose lives were forever changed.

As a victim services agency, we understand that trauma and grief do not follow a timeline. Days of remembrance can bring emotions and memories back to the surface, even decades later.

We also remember how communities came together during an unimaginable time offering support, resources, compassion, and simply showing up for one another. That is when community matters most.

Today, we continue to hold everyone impacted by 9/11 in our thoughts and honor those whose lives were lost. 💙

Jazz on the Ave was a whole vibe as always!

This Saturday, CDVS had an amazing time at Jazz on the Ave, an annual event we’re proud to participate in alongside Beech

It felt good to be back home on Cecil B. Moore, connecting with our community, sharing resources, and engaging with so many amazing individuals and families.

From the vendors and delicious food to the kids’ activities, local resources, and the incredible music, there was something for everyone!

Jazz on the Ave is always an amazing time, and we’re already looking forward to next year. We’ll see y’all there!

What a day we had! 💙

This Tuesday, the CDVS team had the opportunity to be in two places at once, participating in both the 9th District’s National Night Out at Dilworth Park and the 22nd Police District’s National Night Out.

Thank you to the Philadelphia Police Department for hosting this annual event that brings our communities together. We were honored to connect with residents, share resources, and enjoy an evening filled with beautiful weather, positive conversations, and community spirit.

National Night Out is always one of our favorite events, and it never disappoints. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and we can’t wait to see you again next year! 💙

There’s always something special about coming together for a community town hall. 💙

CDVS was proud to be in attendance at the 22nd Police District Town Hall, connecting with residents, community leaders, and fellow organizations committed to making our neighborhoods stronger and safer.

It was great to see resource vendors, hear from community members, and engage in meaningful conversations with leaders including the 22nd Diatrict Captain, Councilmember Jeffrey Young and Donavan West. The questions asked, concerns shared, and ideas exchanged reminded us that real change starts with open dialogue and collaboration.

Thank you to everyone who came out, stopped by our table, and continue to show up for the community. When we work together, support one another, and stay committed to the mission, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish.

Together, we’re building safer, stronger communities one conversation at a time.

CDVS had a productive and meaningful weekend serving as a community resource at the Strawberry Mansion Faith-Based Coalition Unity Day this past Saturday.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with community members, finally put faces to names, and engage with organizations doing impactful work throughout the area. From valuable resources and great food to games and activities for both kids and adults. The day was filled with unity, fellowship, and community spirit.

We’re grateful to have been invited to participate and look forward to continuing to build relationships and support initiatives that strengthen our communities. Thank you for having us and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event!

The last couple of weeks have been busy, but that’s exactly how we like it! 💙

CDVS was proud to be at the PCDC Expo, where we had the opportunity to connect with the Chinatown community by sharing valuable resources and raising awareness about the services we provide.

We also joined the combined Town Hall hosted by the 39th and 22nd Districts. It was an incredible turnout filled with meaningful conversations, community engagement, and informative discussions featuring representatives from L&I, 311, PPA, and many other agencies.

Every event is another opportunity to educate, empower, and build stronger connections within our neighborhoods. We truly love what we do, and seeing our mission in action reminds us that the work is making an impact.
