SOUTH PHILLY RISING CLEAN-UP EVENT

Friday, April 17, 2026
9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Meeting Location: Mifflin Square Park, South Philadelphia

Join us this Friday for a large-scale neighborhood clean-up bringing together approximately 150 students from Friends Select School, alongside community members and volunteers from across Philadelphia. Organized by SEAMAAC, this event marks an important step toward long-term community revitalization and addressing illegal dumping in South Philadelphia.

Reporting unpermitted sidewalk closures to 311

FeetFirstPhilly has shared the following instructions on how to check sidewalk closures and report unpermitted closures to the City.

1) Check
Go to stsweb.phila.gov/permitphl and type in the address by the closure. If there is green, red, or blue line on the sidewalk segment you searched, the closure might be permitted. Click the lines to review more information.

2) Report
If there is no permitting listed on the above website, you can report the blockage to 311. Go to the 311 website and submit a "Dangerous Sidewalk" report. Enter the address of the sidewalk, a photo, and a description of the problem.

3) Follow up
If the problem has not been resolved 7-10 days after the 311 report, email [email protected] with a photo and address of the sidewalk. You can also encourage friends and neighbors to submit reports and reach out to your local RCO.

Last week we hosted Chinese and Indonesian elders from the neighborhood along with our RWA cleaning ambassadors at our monthly community clean up event. We focused on cleaning and beautifying Mifflin Square Park and South 7th Street; both locations were important to our volunteers because these are spaces where they frequently shopped and spent time with their families and friends. We picked up trash and debris, but we also picked a wonderful group of new volunteers. Join us at the next clean up event - email us at [email protected] 🧹🧹
