Congrats to the Jefferson College of Nursing on securing over $6.2 million in competitive research grants supporting work in maternal health, substance use outcomes, ADHD treatment, breastfeeding support, and mindfulness-based parenting.

Jefferson’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Center is taking another major step forward, with leadership now in place to guide four core areas essential to the CTSC’s mission of accelerating discoveries into patient care.

The core leaders will guide work in informatics, community engagement, training, and the combined areas of biostatistics, epidemiology, and research design. Together, their work will support the infrastructure researchers need to develop stronger studies, access and use data, connect with communities, advance their careers, and collaborate across disciplines.

Happy American Pharmacists Month! Thomas Jefferson University College of Pharmacy honored members of the Class of 2030 at a special White Coat Ceremony earlier this month.

Marking the start of their professional journey, Doctor of Pharmacy students donned their white coats for the first time, recited the Oath of a Pharmacist, and heard inspiring words from College of Pharmacy Dean Dr. Anandi V. Law and other pharmacy leaders. Dr. Paul Goebel, assistant director of pharmacy at Jefferson Health, highlighted the pharmacist’s role in the opioid crisis, while keynote speaker Dr. Victoria Elliott, CEO of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, addressed professionalism in action and pharmacists’ lifelong commitment to their patients.

“Feel the weight of that coat,” Dr. Elliott told the students. “It carries the trust of every patient who will ever hand you a prescription, ask you for advice in a time of crisis, or depend on your advocacy for their health. Wear it with pride and with humility. And above all, wear it with purpose.”

When Dr. Charles J. Yeo was inducted into the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators last month, he became the first Jefferson faculty member elected as a full member of the prestigious group.

Dr. Yeo, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, sees the recognition as a reflection of something bigger: Jefferson’s longstanding commitment to training the next generation of surgeons.

ICYMI: Jefferson jumped in several major categories in the latest U.S. News and World Report 2027 Best Colleges rankings, including Best Value Schools, Top Performers on Social Mobility, and Best Colleges for Veterans. Jefferson also maintained its rank in the top third of National Universities and, in a new category, placed among the top 36% of private schools in the country.

In addition, Jefferson made significant gains in Niche’s 2027 Best Colleges in America — most notably, soaring 159 spots to No. 206. This jump places the University among the top 14% nationally. Among the other major Niche categories, Jefferson rocketed 43 spots to No. 153 in Best Value Colleges (top 11% nationally) and 432 places to No. 208 in Best College Locations (top 14% nationally).

Jefferson also vaulted into the top 10% for Best Colleges for Nursing, ranking No. 76 in the U.S. — a 25-spot jump. Plus, Niche ranked Jefferson No. 45 for Best Colleges for Architecture and No. 106 for Best Colleges for Design.
