Bernadette's soldier writes, "Before deploying to Romania, I unexpectedly lost my dog to cancer, and it shattered my world. When I got here, Bernadette was the first dog to come around. I was hesitant at first and didn’t want to get attached, but she knew that I needed her. Every day I see her, she gets a big smile on her face and starts wagging her tail and runs to me with such joy! At one point, I thought we lost her. She was very pregnant, and they came on post and took all the dogs away. Miraculously about a week later, she was sitting right outside my office door, and my heart was filled with joy. She has been the light for me throughout this rotation, and she deserves a loving home."

Jameson's soldier writes, "I found Jameson close to our operational base, covered in dirt. She was alongside her brother, very scared and malnourished. I fed her and slowly gained her trust, so now she sleeps by my side every night, and plays every morning. She FaceTimes my children and wife every day and shows them all her new tricks and talents. The dogs in the area aren’t treated very well and have trouble finding enough food, so I’m trying to bring her home to our loving family with a big yard to play in as she deserves a better life and I can't imagine leaving her behind."

We are heartbroken to announce that our good friend Meatball passed away yesterday in the loving arms of his owners, Kim and Joe McCarthy. Many of you met Meatball at our No Dog Gets Left Behind events where he was the "STAR" of the show. We will miss him dearly and ask that you share any photos of you and Meatball.

Meet Blue. Blue’s soldier writes,” We were sent on a month-long training exercise in Babadag and one weekend we were in a town about 10 miles away and unknowingly two puppies were following us back to our operations base in the woods. They followed us into our AO and they quickly became the platoon puppies. The whole company fell in love with the two brothers very fast and the puppies raised morale through the roof. They went from platoon to platoon sleeping in tents and playing with each other. They went to chow with us, and we fed them leftovers. They were about 1 month old at the time. Then we had to leave and left them there because we had no way to sneak them back and our command wouldn't allow us to bring them back to Garrison. We went out 2 months later this past 2 weeks and to our surprise one of the puppies was still there. The other had been taken by someone because he was smaller and calmer than blue. These past 2 weeks the whole company fell back in love with blue. Me included. So, we acquired some help from some friends who drove the lmtvs there and brought him back for me to adopt. Everyone is looking forward to hopefully bringing our platoon puppy back the states.”
