She’s back - and this time, she’s co-hosting 🥂🍴⁠

We’re thrilled to welcome Kiki Aranita of Poi Dog back to FEASTIVAL, this year as our official co-host! 🌺✨⁠

Her career paths exist simultaneously and are tied together by the same themes: nostalgia and care for the ocean. Whether cooking or writing, her primary goal has been to honestly represent the flavors of Hawai’i and what her ancestors endured working on Kauai’s sugarcane plantations. ⁠

She’s an advocate for responsibly raised and caught seafood and regenerative farming practices, especially in her home state of Hawai’i. ⁠
⁠
As a chef, she specializes in Hawai’i’s fresh fish dishes and low waste cooking, and as a fiber artist, she works primarily with scrap yarn, in a small effort to keep micro-plastics out of our waterways.⁠

We are thrilled Michael Ferreri is joining FEASTIVAL as this year’s co-host 🥂🍴

After opening Aldine with Chef George Sabatino, Ferreri moved on to write his first menu at Res Ipsa. In 2017 Res Ipsa was named among Bon Appetit’s Top 50 Best New Restaurants and in 2019 Ferreri was named among Philadelphia’s Star Chefs Rising Stars.

During Irwin’s first year open in 2021, Esquire named Irwin’s as one of the Best New Restaurants in America and just one year later Bon Appetit recognized Irwin’s as one of the top 10 Best New Restaurants.

Can you believe FEASTIVAL 2023 was a week ago today? We already miss your smiling (and food-filled) faces 😢❤️

This post is dedicated to our wonderful CHAMP students from Frankford High School and FKD Hospitality-- they helped make this year's FEASTIVAL a roaring success!

CHAMP, a FringeArts mentorship program developed in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and presented by PECO, connects students enrolled in the School District’s thirteen Culinary/Hospitality Arts programs with Philadelphia’s best chefs and restaurants through master classes, tours, etiquette lunches, professional development, and a job fair at the end of the year for all graduating seniors to network and apply for future employment and/or internships.
