Friends of Pastorius Park

Friends of Pastorius Park The Friends of Pastorius Park is a volunteer advocacy group that works to preserve the 16 acre park as it was designed in 1915.

The Friends of Pastorius Park was established in 1987, as a non-profit, volunteer organization, devoted to maintaining the park as it was originally designed to be: a passive, multi-use green space, to be used by individual park goers as such, and in compliance with City rules and regulations. FoPP's role is one of stewardship and care for Pastorius Park's landscape and assets. Our organization is

committed to making the park a safe and enjoyable experience for all. FoPP has proved this repeatedly for years, through tree and pond maintenance, as well as masonry repair and renovation of the warming hut. Most recently, FoPP repaired all of the park's benches in summer of 2016, and is currently involved (with both funding and volunteer workers) in restoration and maintenance of the park's water system, in collaboration with the City's Parks & Recreation Department (PPR). FoPP funds all its improvements/repairs at Pastorius Park with tax-deductible donations and membership fees from the community. Membership forms can be found at our mailbox in the amphitheater area (above the moat on Millman St. side of the park), and these and/or any donation can be mailed to:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

With the leaves falling, the turtles hunkered down for winter, and migrating ducks returning to the pond, we are reminded again just how fortunate we are to have Pastorius Park at the heart of our community.

Thanks to our community, 2025 has been an outstanding year at the park. We are grateful to the many volunteers who helped at spring and fall cleanups and throughout the year with planting, pruning, raking, collecting storm debris, caring for the pond and fountains, and so many other behind‑the‑scenes tasks.

This year we have another exciting reason to be thankful!

*Thanks to generous support from the Wyncote Foundation and a devoted Chestnut Hill neighbor, every donation made before December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000. With $45,000 already committed, we must secure another $55,000 to unlock the full match.

This match is a vital step toward fully funding the Paul W. Meyer Northeast Woods Restoration Project, an effort to restore native woodland habitat, manage stormwater, and create a renewed tranquil experience for visitors to Pastorius Park. Your gift today, of any amount, will be doubled, helping to restore one of the park’s most ecologically important areas and honoring Paul Meyer’s legacy of environmental stewardship.

Pastorius Park belongs to all of us, and its future depends on our shared care and generosity. Together, we can ensure this historic landscape continues to inspire and enrich our community for generations to come. Gifts can be made at https://friendsofpastorius.org/matched

With Gratitude,
Friends of Pastorius Park Board
