Celebration Moon Meditation Center

Celebration Moon Meditation Center We encourage all to accept our open invitation join us at our events. We are bringing together a variety of people for stimulating conversation over tea.

Celebration Moon is a New Age Meditation, Education and Community Center based in Taoist tradition dedicated to building greater understanding and mutual respect between people of various faiths and beliefs. This Center has a community interfaith outreach program to facilitate, in the community, the opportunity to live the principle that was taught by Gandhi to, “be the change [we] want to see in

the world“. We are people of diversity (spiritual, racial, sexual, and others) who meet to discuss issues of inclusion (enriching our personal lives by lovingly embracing different beliefs and cultures). In this relaxing setting you will meet thoughtful people who are willing to discuss a variety of topics; social, spiritual, scientific, literary and artistic. All people are welcome to participate allowing individuals to meet, interact, and learn from others. The topics that are chosen always make for lively conversation. There is no need to be intimidated if you don't have a formal education in religion or social change, asking questions is just as important to the process as offering opinions. Come join us and we will embark on a relentlessly curious, collaborative exploration to achieve a deeper connection with yourself and others, share new ideas, gain new perspectives on old ideas, and explore existing and future relationships while learning to experience openness as you have never experienced it before. If you live in, or near, Philadelphia, Pa please come. Our participants come with a wide and diverse set of spiritual backgrounds and we embrace all who wish to share in an open, honest, respectful forum. If you are interested in other classes and seminars being held at this center please see our website or newsletter and remember space is limited so RSVP early to reserve a seat. The free services at this Center are both informal and social. They do not require any preparation or prior knowledge. The classes are designed for beginners as well as those with formal training. The center provides a setting in which people can participate in free discussions, learn from each other, and have fun while socializing in a stimulating environment. It is a social and spiritual network for adults who embrace the conscious path of living life to the fullest. Please call : (215) 900-3330 if you have a question or would like to make an appointment to see Dr. Verbena. All of the services posted here or on our website at celebrationmoon.org are free of charge. We are fully self supporting through voluntary contributions, however, if you would like one of our workbooks as a premium for your donation, all workbooks are available during regular hours on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Peace to all.

~Yin & Yang: The Unity of Opposites~

"In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describes how apparently opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.

Many tangible dualities (such as light and dark, fire and water, and male and female) are thought of as physical manifestations of the duality symbolized by yin and yang.

Yin and yang can be thought of as complementary (rather than opposing) forces that interact to form a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts.

Yin is characterized as slow, soft, yielding, diffuse, cold, wet, and passive; and is associated with water, earth, the moon, femininity, and nighttime.

Yang, by contrast, is fast, hard, solid, focused, hot, dry, and aggressive; and is associated with fire, sky, the sun, masculinity and daytime.

Everything has both yin and yang aspects, (for instance shadow cannot exist without light). Either of the two major aspects may manifest more strongly in a particular object, depending on the criterion of the observation.

The yin yang (i.e. taijitu symbol) shows a balance between two opposites with a portion of the opposite element in each section.

In Daoist metaphysics, distinctions between good and bad, along with other dichotomous moral judgments, are perceptual, not real; so, the duality of yin and yang is an indivisible whole...

Yin and yang applies to the human body. In traditional Chinese medicine good health is directly related to the balance between yin and yang qualities within oneself."

Yield and overcome;
Bend and be straight;
Empty and be full;
Wear out and be new;
Have little and gain;
Have much and be confused.

Therefore the wise embrace the one
And set an example to all.
Not putting on a display,
They shine forth.

Not justifying themselves,
They are distinguished.
Not boasting,
They receive recognition.
Not bragging,
They never falter.

They do not quarrel,
So no one quarrels with them.

Therefore the ancients say,
"Yield and overcome."
Is that an empty saying?

Be really whole,
And all things will come to you.

Tao Te Ching

“You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” -- Buddha
