What do students remember most from JA Finance Park?
According to one volunteer, it's the personal connections.
"The students were most interested in how we related the simulation to our personal situations."
Through conversations about budgeting, saving, spending, housing, and future goals, students begin connecting classroom learning to real-life decisions.
That's where young people begin connecting education to real life.
Every JA Finance Park day depends on a team of 15+ volunteers helping students think through the possibilities ahead of them.

What happens when young people are given a seat at the table and the opportunity to learn firsthand? Incredible things!

Last week, we celebrated the conclusion of C2L Serves Summer Program, where interns spent the summer exploring careers, building professional skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of public service. Through visits to six Philadelphia Police Department units, interns participated in hands-on learning experiences and were exposed to a wide range of career opportunities within law enforcement and beyond.

The highlight of the program was hearing interns present their experiences and share their ideas for strengthening community safety and trust. Their presentations demonstrated thoughtfulness, innovation, and a genuine commitment to making Philadelphia a better place for all.

Thank you to our partners at the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Works, Foundations, Inc., and the School District of Philadelphia for investing in our youth and making these opportunities possible. Special thanks to Commissioner Bethel, Lieutenant Dennis Johnson and David Irizarry for their collaboration and support throughout the program.

The future is bright, and this group of interns reminded us why.
