A Lift for a Vet

A Lift for a Vet Higher Mobility donates the appliances at cost while Local #5 provides the manpower for assembly at no cost. This service is open and available to all U.S.

“A Lift for a Vet” grew from founder Michael Walsh's desire to help fellow disabled veterans after his work with Local #5 and “Homes for our Troops.”

“A Lift for a Vet” helps disabled veterans regain a sense of independence and alleviates difficulties of everyday life. This is done through the purchase and installation of elevators, wheelchair lifts and stair lifts.

“A Lift for a Vet,” a non-p

rofit organization, is the generous coming together of Higher Mobility and Local #5. disabled veterans from any era both at war and peace. The only limitation is the veteran's disability must be service connected and the veteran must have a true need for our assistance.

A Lift for a Vet Golf Outing was successful in every way...terrific weather, food and drinks were top notch, everyone had a wonderful time and we raised money that will enable us to continue to provide vertical transportation to U.S. Military Veterans...feels good to be able to pay back.

These soldiers finally get another chance

Sun Citian Jerry McNelly can remember being screamed at, ridiculed and spit upon in the Seattle/Tacoma International Airport awaiting to fly home to the Bay Area after serving in the Vietnam War. It was 1969 and the Vietnam War – and the same harsh treatment soldiers received when they arrived back

Charlie Sheen 47, is all over the news because he's a celebrity drug addict. Meanwhile Andrew Wilfahrt-31, Brian Tabada-21, Rudolph Hizon-22, and Chauncy May-25 are soldiers who gave their lives this week w/ no media mention. Please honor them by posting this as your status for a little while. May they rest in peace.
