🤗All participants are encouraged to participate this year in honor of a leader you admire… someone who has provided you sanctuary at an important moment in your life, and/or someone you admire as a leader for bringing people together or standing up against injustice.

🪧If you attend the event in person, blank signs will be available for you to write their name and/or attach a photograph. If you attend virtually, you will be encouraged to hold up a sign at home during the event, celebrating the person you have chosen to honor.

We are beyond thrilled to announce our 2026 Sojourner Truth Walk honoree: West Philly’s own City Councilmember Jamie Gauthier! 🏛️✊

From protecting our status as a Sanctuary City to fighting for clean air and affordable housing, Councilmember Gauthier is a leader who truly stands up for the people. Her work reminds us that sanctuary isn’t just a place—it’s a commitment to justice, safety, and dignity for every neighbor.

In honor of this year’s theme, “We the People... Build Sanctuary,” we want to hear from YOU!

Jatolloa is a compassionate advocate who works to ensure Black and Brown birthing people receive the “high-quality care they deserve.” She mentors the next generation of providers of color and works tirelessly to address racism and bias in healthcare, “bearing witness” to families finding their own power. ✨🤱
