RockReach Making dance more accessible to Philadelphia’s youth.

RockReach has grown exponentially since its launch in 2000 from serving only 1 in-school Residency to currently serving 21 Philadelphia-area Title 1 public,charter, and parochial schools; it has had as many as 30 Residencies in a single year, which is truly mammoth in comparison to other local community outreach. The Rock School developed RockReach in response to the dearth of arts programs in Phi

ladelphia public schools. The program seeks to address the inadequacy of arts and physical education where, due to budget constraints, there is little or no arts or physical activity in school and also responds to the need for constructive, goal-oriented, in-school and after-school programs. RockReach targets low-income schools in the School District of Philadelphia and surrounding areas with limited or no physical education and unsafe outdoor play areas. We currently serve grades K-12, predominately African American or Latino; the majority of student body is part of the Title 1 program and is eligible for free or discounted lunches.

🔸A recap of our 21-22 year🔸

•Started the year back with a hybrid mix
• Nutcracker 1776 annual performance (virtually!) and lots of watch parties at our schools
• Had our first performances back in person for winter shows
• Dynamics of Dance annual end of year assembly / introduced our new President & Director of TRS, Peter Stark and new Director of RR, Anne White! / Learned a combo with Ms. Catherine and dancers from RockWest, and got to see performances from Rock School dancers!
• Finished with end of year performances
• Highlighted one of our CAPA dancers, Cici who has danced with RockReach since she was in Elementary school

It’s been an amazing year and we are so proud of all of our dancers! Thank you to all of our partner schools, teachers, administrators, RR Teaching Artists, and ❤️

We’ll see you in the fall! Have a great summer!👋
