🚨 URGENT FOSTERS NEEDED 🚨

I am absolutely begging for help with a heartbreaking situation.

Recently, we learned about a home in the Roxborough area where more than 30 cats were living. These were friendly, socialized pet cats who had spent their lives indoors being cared for by their owner until he suddenly passed away 😢😢.

What happened next is sooooo upsetting. Instead of receiving the help and care they desperately needed, the door was simply opened and these cats were put outside. Just like that. No food. No water. No shelter. No plan. No consideration for the fact that these cats had spent their lives depending on humans for survival. They were literally abandoned to fend for themselves.

It is simply appalling and there are so many lessons to be learned from situations like this. Please, PLEASE get your cats spayed and neutered. And, have a plan in place for what will happen to them if something happens to you. We see tragedies like this far too often.

Thankfully, someone became aware of the situation and stepped up to find help. They were fortunate enough to connect with Zuzu Bee from The Cat Collaborative, one of the most skilled and dedicated trappers around. A plan is now in place to get these cats trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and medically cared for.

But here's the problem...

It would be completely unethical to return these friendly pet cats to life on the streets butfinding placement for 30+ cats during the height of kitten season feels almost impossible.

These cats are AMAZING. They are incredibly friendly with people. They are friendly with other cats. They are easy-going, social, and adorable. They deserve so much better than the hand they've been dealt.

We really, really want to offer out help but we are desperate for foster homes.

You do NOT need to be an experienced rescue person.

You do NOT need a huge house.

You do NOT need to make a lifetime commitment.

All you need is a spare room and a willingness to help. Honestly, taking two cats is even better because they have companionship while they adjust.

Unfortunately, if we don’t get some foster offers, we are not going to be able to help with this situation.
I am so underwater and won't even say how many cats are currently in my home because the number is honestly ridiculous. Between feeding, cleaning, medicating, and caring for everyone, I spend an insane amount of time every single day just maintaining things and I physically and emotionally cannot continue taking on more.

So, I'm begging for help. If you've ever said you wished you could do something to help cats, this is your opportunity. Open your home to one or two cats. Give them a safe place to land. Help us get them off the streets and onto the next chapter of their lives.

These cats have already lost everything once. Let's make sure they don't lose their chance at a future too. ❤️

Please, please, PLEASE help us find homes for some of our incredible “alpha” cats 😢💔

As amazing as these boys are individually, they simply are not enjoying having to live together in such a large group setting. We know in our hearts that they would absolutely THRIVE in the right homes where they could truly relax, feel secure, and let their personalities shine the way they’re meant to.

First up is Stubzzy (named because of his stub of a tail)😻. This cat is ABSOLUTELY amazing. He has one of the biggest personalities you will ever encounter and will literally hug you. He is goofy, confident, affectionate, hilarious, and just so much fun to be around. He’s estimated to be around a year old and brings laughter everywhere he goes.

His only issue is that Stubbzy really wants to be the boss 😅. He can clash with some of the other strong alpha male cats, but he does very well with younger cats and has had no issues with female cats. In the right environment, he is going to make somebody unbelievably happy.

Next is Artemis 🖤🤍This boy is spectacular. Artemis is a large, strong black-and-white cat with such an incredible presence. He is full of personality and character — and he can even do tricks for treats! He’s another one of those cats who is just SO special and memorable.

Artemis would likely do best as an only cat or possibly with just one or two other laid-back cats, but the “zoo” environment he is currently living in is simply not the right fit for him. He deserves peace, stability, and a home where he can truly shine. Artemis is estimated to be around 4–5 years old.

Then we have Stripes 💕💕. This handsome boy actually has a microchip, and at one point we truly believed his family was coming for him… but then we never heard from them again 😢

When Stripes first arrived, he had such a strong, outgoing personality. But over time, because of the constant tension and discord between some of these bigger boys, he has really retreated into himself — and it absolutely breaks our hearts to watch. We KNOW this is not the right environment for him. He deserves so much more than this. Underneath his current stress is an incredibly handsome, sweet, wonderful cat who would do beautifully in a calmer home with fewer cats.

What makes all of this even sadder is that every single one of these boys was found outside struggling just to survive. Our experience has shown us time and time again that many of these “alpha” personalities developed because they HAD to. They had to be tough. They had to fight for food. They had to survive. Humans failed them, and survival changed them.

But despite all of that… they are still loving, funny, affectionate, amazing cats who deserve homes where their personalities can finally be a positive instead of a source of stress.

All three boys are fully vetted and SO ready for their forever homes ❤️

Please, please consider opening your heart and home to one of these very special cats. They deserve peace. They deserve love. And they deserve a chance to finally just be happy.

We are still recovering from an absolutely incredible day at Market Bryn Mawr this past Sunday! ☀️🐾

First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the amazing volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help us spread the word about PURR and all of the cats who depend on us.

Although the weather was incredibly hot, our volunteers powered through with smiles on their faces and endless dedication. Unless you’ve worked one of these events, it is hard to appreciate just how nonstop they are. From the moment we arrive to start setting up until the very end, there is barely a second to catch your breath!!

Despite the heat and exhaustion, our team kept going all day long, talking to hundreds of people about our mission, sharing the stories of our cats, collecting donations, and connecting with potential volunteers, fosters, adopters, and supporters.

The exposure we receive at events like this is invaluable. Every conversation helps us reach more people, recruit more help, and ultimately save more lives.

We are so incredibly grateful to have such a dedicated group of volunteers who are willing to work so hard for the cats. We truly could not do this without you.

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday to one of our absolute best volunteers, Frank Sandy Costello! 🎂🎉

Today, all of Sandy’s friends at PURR—both two-legged and four-legged—want to wish him the biggest and happiest birthday ever! 🐾❤️😻

We first met Sandy and his incredible wife, Costello, about five years ago, and from the very beginning, they have never ceased to amaze us. There are simply not enough words to describe how truly wonderful they are.

Time and time again, Sandy and Pat step up to help in any way they can, and they always do an amazing job. Whether they are painting walls at the Cat Cafe, transporting cats, trapping injured strays, fostering litters of kittens, working outreach events, or tackling whatever else needs to be done, they do it all with kindness, dedication, and enormous hearts. They are the kind of volunteers every rescue dreams of having, and we are unbelievably lucky to have them as part of the PURR family 😻😻😻😻!!

I still remember the first day I met Pat. We clicked instantly, but I had no idea just how important she would become in my life. Through Pat, I also had the privilege of getting to know Sandy, and I am so grateful that our paths crossed.

Sandy, thank you for everything you do for PURR and for the cats who depend on us. You have made a tremendous impact, and we love and appreciate you more than words can say.

It breaks our hearts to share that we need to temporarily close intake 😢😢😢😢😢😢.

Right now, our rescue is full of truly wonderful cats who continue to be overlooked through no fault of their own. These cats are affectionate, deserving, and more than ready for families of their own, yet many have been waiting for over a year for someone to give them a chance.
Until we are able to find homes for some of our long-term residents, we simply do not have room to take in new cats who desperately need our help.

We could also really use new foster homes!!! Some of our cats are not thriving in a large group environment and would do much better in the peace and comfort of a foster home. Some of the cats who are struggling with communal living can disrupt the overall harmony of the group. Moving these cats into foster care would not only help them decompress, but would also restore balance within the rescue and create additional space for us to help more cats.

Please, if you have been thinking about adopting or fostering, now is the time. Opening your home cab truly save lives. And if you are unable to adopt or foster, sharing our posts and helping us spread the word is incredibly valuable. But, PLEASE, don’t offer unless you will honor your commitment. The people who offered to foster and then reneged on their commitment are in large part to blame for the position we are now in 😡😡.

The sooner we can place some of our long-term residents into loving adoptive or foster homes, the sooner we can reopen intake and say “yes” to the next cats who desperately need our help.
