Today marks one year since the petition to sell Inglis House was withdrawn from the Philadelphia Orphan’s Court. For our loved ones, this meant security of their home and way of life. Inglis House remains a non-profit nursing facility — for now.

For us, much was learned throughout the attempted sale. We learned about family councils and we learned about Orphan’s Court proceedings.

Most importantly, we learned that we must remain vigilant, we must hold the board accountable, and never take Inglis House for granted. We cannot assume that those in leadership share our values and sense of urgency for keeping those doors open and functioning as a non-profit beacon of hope for adults with disabilities.

To all of you who have signed up to join the Inglis House Family Council, thank you. We need to work together to ensure each of our loved ones continue to live their fullest life thanks to Annie Inglis’ dream. For those of you interested, please visit our website to join our mailing list for the next council meeting. It will be hosted on Zoom on 2/20/2024 at 7PM.
