We highly encourage Wheaten Terrier owners to participate in this study. The Endowment has made a significant financial contribution to this research project. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Soft coated wheaten terriers are known to be predisposed to chronic gastrointestinal disease. We have determined that the dogs develop changes in their guts before clinical signs develop. We want to see whether these changes are preventable with early diet intervention.

Enrolled dogs will visit the NC State Veterinary Hospital monthly for a total of four visits, will receive an Alicam® video capsule endoscope twice and then will be transitioned to a kibble diet, which they will eat exclusively for 90 days

Good evening Wheaten Health Matters members! We are excited to launch a promotion to entice our owners to enter their Wheaten Terriers into the database and entice our breeders to enter their litters! Entering a dog in the database can be done by clicking on this link. Be sure to fill out as much information as possible on your Wheaten. Here are some FAQ's:
What is a health record? Well it could be anything, skin allergies, guppies, cancers, reproduction issues such as a stricture, missed breeding, ortho issues, kidney or liver issues, accidents,
Does the dog have to be living now? No. We want all dogs entered, having the date of brith and the date of death shows longevity in the breed.
Do you have to have vet records ? No but we really want them. Even if you complete the entry go back through your emails or files and send those records.
Can you just update your dogs information? YES!!!!!
For Wheaten breeders - contact our Database Admin for help but any litter as the flyer says. Pam and Kathy are here to help you.
