Happy 106th birthday to Ms. Etta Freeman.

In the 1940s, when Alabama A&M alumnus Etta Freeman was six months pregnant and traveling home from Moulton, Alabama, a white bus driver requested she give up her seat in the back to a white passenger. She told the driver she was tired, pregnant and not going anywhere. The white man stood. And this happened more than ten years before Rosa Parks triggered the Montgomery bus boycott.

There is no debating that over the last few years NA drinks have started to boom, but will there ever be a ubiquitous non-alcoholic cocktail?

So, when you’ve gotten messy enough you’re doing coke in the faculty bathroom in the middle of the school day it’s a safe guess that you know the party has been for over a while.

We have to wonder if the stigma were less for professionals to have a Substance Use Disorder she might have gotten help sooner. Let’s hope she gets treatment, faces whatever accountability is appropriate and then gets the second chance at a career she more than likely deserves.

And my friends and I thought it was scandalous when the teachers came back from a ride around the block smelling like ci******es.
