Heads up, due to FIFA World Cup matches happening in Philly, FDR Park will be closed to cars on select dates. The SEA Market will be affected on June 14 & 27 and July 4. We’ll be back to our regular Saturday & Sunday hours on all other weekends — see you then!

Our AAPI Heritage Month so far:

Seng’s Salon — the play inspired by the Lao, Cambodian, and Vietnamese community of South Philly — sold out its final week of performances, including the night our very own was in the lobby feeding theatergoers. It marked the first sold-out run in 37-year history. Now that deserves a standing ovation.

Our favorite Samoan Eagles player stopped by the SEA Market and went straight to work. What’s the Mailata order you ask? An empanada and mangonada from , then beef and chicken skewers plus an extra extra spicy papaya salad from . The man’s got taste!

And in the biggest news of the month: ’s Cambodian cheesesteak has officially landed at Citizens Bank Park. You can find it this week in the VIP section, and Pidor Yang is now the first businesswoman to bring Southeast Asian cuisine to a major Philadelphia sports venue. Congrats on making history B**g!

How’s your month of May going?

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 16, join the Pan Asian Association for the AAPI Culture Festival. This free community event takes place from 11am to 4pm in the parking lot area adjacent to SEA Market. The festival will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts, and a variety of local vendors. This event is presented in partnership with the Office of Immigrant Affairs, Friends of FDR Park, and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia.
