It is an honor to serve on the Young Professionals Board of Uplift Center for Grieving Children. This Philadelphia nonprofit helps children grieving a death to heal and grow through their grief while strengthening families, communities and professionals’ understanding of how best to respond to their needs. Death is not an occasional or isolated event for many kids in Philly. They may come to Uplift after experiencing the deaths of multiple people they care about: a grandparent who was their primary caregiver died from heart disease, a parent died from opioids, another relative died from COVID, and a classmate died in a house fire.
