Last Saturday 6/14, we held a collaborative pet event with a suburban vet hospital Johnβs Episcopal Church in Norristown. The vets and staff provided vaccines, microchips and a basic well visit to over 100 animals. LIFE Foundation distributed a Uhaul van filled to the top with food and litter plus two additional cars packed with the excess supplies that wouldnβt fit. St Johnβs Episcopal Church was the venue. Thank you Jen for organizing and allowing us to use this space. We are used to pretty basic locations to set up at. This property was amazing. The owners and pets were allowed to sit and wait their turns on red velvet pews in the church.
Pretty great!
πMany thanks to all who donatedβ¦Vorhees Animal Orphanage,Montco SPCA, Fairmount Pet Shoppe and neighbors and friends who drop off supplies at our homes.
πMany thanks to our volunteers. Dayna and Alexis are experienced volunteers who fit biggies and littles with new secure harnesses and stylish collars and leashes. John, Mark and John provided the muscle, loading/unloading the van, setting up tables and tents and helping people carry supplies to their cars. Deb, Kat, Alanna and Bernadette passed out food, litter, treats, toys, etc. to all people in line. It was non-stop for 3-4 hours and we went home with an empty U-Haul! πWe Foundation counciled owners about the importance of spay/neuter and offered our free services through Philly Phix-a-Pit.
πThere was one young man who made a lasting impression on all of us. He told us he was homeless. He was using a wheelchair, pushing his belongings in a wire cart in front of him with his cat perched on top in a carrier. He had traveled by bus from another town to get his cat vaccinated. When he was finished he left to catch the bus back to where he started. There was not one thing easy about his journey that day. The time and effort taken to make sure his cat was cared for was humbling to witness.
As usual we will leave you with pictures of some cuties that visited us. Thank you, we could never do this without so many generous people.β€οΈ
