‼️EVENT POSTPONED‼️ Yet again, Mother Nature❄️decided to switch up our plans so our MLK Jr. Day of Service is POSTPONED this weekend until further notice (TBD). We’re keeping everyone safe and will share a new date ASAP!

🧡Sunday Jan 18th🧡 MLK Jr Day of Service - GTOWN 2026

JOIN US for a day of community care and improvement at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Clean-Up in Germantown! On Sunday, January 18th, from 10 AM to 1 PM (rain date: January 25th), we’ll come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service and teamwork.

📒Event Details:

🟢What: Community clean-up and garden bed assembly/painting!
🟢Where: Meet at the corner of 5700 Greene St, Philadelphia, PA 19144
🟢Who: Organized by I Love Thy Hood and Germantown United CDC in partnership with Weavers Way Co-op, Friends of Vernon Park, Maplewood Collective, Jeantel Landscaping, P*k A Panel Hardware, Selah By Designs, Philadelphia Family Church, CLIP(PHILA) and Xoxoabean Chocolate and with support from the City of Philadelphia’s PHL Taking Care of Business program.

We’ll be cleaning up the area and helping to put together garden beds that will enhance the community for local residents, commuters, shoppers and businesses. While some cleaning supplies will be provided, please bring your own broom, pail, and gloves if possible.(Parking is free along the street on Sundays in Germantown. Nearest Bus stops: 81, 26, 23, 55)

Let’s make Germantown shine while building connections and creating spaces that bring the community together. We look forward to seeing you there!

While Sunday’s cleanup will focus on the Central Germantown commercial corridor, know that there are other areas in need of service across Germantown. If you’re organizing a cleanup or know of one, email [email protected] with the details and we’ll promote it!

“Matthew and Bria George, Philadelpha natives who have a shared passion for community and environmental stewardship.In August 2019, they co-founded , a groundbreaking organization aimed at combating the pervasive trash epidemic plaguing Philadelphia.

Over 650 entities and individuals have reached out for support, resulting in the installation of 158 I Love Thy Hood trash cans spanning the Philadelphia region. By making waste management sustainable, affordable, and even cool, Matthew and Bria have inspired a new generation of environmental activists.”

Come together and join I Love Thy Hood, The Boozy Mutt and other local businesses in working together to clean the streets of our neighborhoods! We will be cleaning up the Fairmount area, stopping at the following business along the way:

Lazzos Pizza & Grill, Rybrew, Over the Moon, 2637 Brew, Crime & Punishment & Together Skate & Coffee. There will be an I Love Thy Hood can at each location.

Ending back at The Boozy Mutt to mingle and enjoy a crafted I Love Thy Hood cocktail. $1 from every cocktail sold will be donated to sponsor a an I Love Thy Hood Can.

We encourage you to bring your own cleaning tools but some will be available for use during the cleanup!
We hope to see you there!
