Join us every Thursday as we step back into a space where young people don’t have to translate who they are to be understood. They just arrive and everything else meets them there.

6PM–8PM.
Kourage House Thursdays.
Same door. Different breakthroughs.

This is our 3rd cohort of art therapy. Every year it gets better and what we’re witnessing can’t be reduced to attendance, participation, or programming. It’s development. It’s emotional language forming where there used to be silence. It’s confidence showing up in rooms it used to avoid.

That’s what happens when the model is simple, but intentional…be who you needed and we honor every layer of that.

There was a time when Black and Brown children were not given equal access to creative spaces, leadership spaces, or the freedom to fully express themselves through the arts.

Dance studios, classrooms, and performance stages were often places where we had to fight to be seen or weren’t seen at all.

But history did not stop there.

Generations of Black and Brown artists, dancers, educators, and young people continued to create anyway. They built spaces when none were offered. They trained when resources were limited. They kept going when the doors were closed.

Dance in 2026 honors history while building access, confidence, and opportunity for the next generation.

Today, we see Black and Brown youth stepping into classrooms, studios, and leadership spaces with their full identity intact, no shrinking, no hiding, no apology.

Sending well wishes to our founder and her dance sisters today, as they represent in their showcase today…

It’s Presentation Day for our founder Kalie 🌎🇮🇩✨

Today she’s presenting her project on Indonesia.

Watching her prepare with confidence, curiosity, and joy is a beautiful thing.

She reminds other youth that learning is powerful, your voice matters, and being yourself in every language is a superpower 🤍

The Kourage House 💛

A space created with intention for youth to simply exhale. A place where they can laugh, create, talk, reflect, get on each other’s nerves and ours 🥴🥴🥴and work through real emotions without pressure to be perfect.

Through art therapy, conversation, and connection, we meet our youth where they are, guiding through their growing pains, while reminding them they are not alone. 💛

At the Kourage House tonight, our youth sat together in circle for what we call our Kourage Circle Talk 💛 ✨

We laughed. We giggled. We got distracted a few times 😂… but eventually, everybody got on one accord.

Together, the group chanted:

“I am strong!”
“I am determined!”

And then loud and proud:

“KREATE YOUR KOURAGE!” 💜

Moments like this may look small to some people, but they matter deeply here.

This is what happens during our Kourage Circle Talks, youth learning how to use their voices, affirm themselves, encourage one another, and feel safe enough to simply be themselves.

There’s no right or wrong answer during this session. It’s simply their thoughts.

Sometimes healing looks like deep conversations.
Sometimes it looks like art and sometimes… it looks like children laughing together before finally finding confidence in their voice.

At Kreate Your Kourage, we create spaces where youth are seen, heard, valued, and reminded of their strength. Every single week. 🩷

We are proud to celebrate our Founder, Kalie, for being part of the upcoming documentary, The Kahiki 3 and Me, written by the incredible njohnsonalfano. Kalie was booked for a voiceover in this deeply personal film that explores family, memory, and the lasting impact of a single night at the legendary Kahiki Supper Club in 1970s Columbus.

This project is a powerful reminder that storytelling is art and when young voices are included, the impact reaches even further.

Congratulations to Mrs. Nikki, her team and to our Founder, Kalie. We are honored to see youth artistry represented in spaces that celebrate Black filmmakers and meaningful storytelling.

The Kahiki 3 and Me will premiere at the Denton Black Film Festival on January 31, 2026.

Art heals. Art connects. Art belongs everywhere.
