May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month
At Harp’s Hope, we know that behind every NICU journey is a mother carrying so much more than people can see. The stress, fear, anxiety, trauma, exhaustion, and emotional ups and downs can stay long after a baby leaves the hospital.
1 in 5 mothers experience a maternal mental health condition, and NICU parents are at an even higher risk. No mom should ever feel alone in what she’s carrying.
This month, we want every mother to know:
- It’s okay to ask for help
- Your feelings are valid
- Taking care of your mental health matters
We are also incredibly grateful to be partnered with BetterHelp to help support NICU parents during and after their journey.
If you recently had a baby in the NICU and are struggling emotionally, mentally, or just need someone to talk to, please reach out to us. We may be able to provide a voucher for free therapy services through BetterHelp.
Whether you are currently in the NICU, adjusting at home, grieving, healing, or simply trying to make it through the day, we see you and we support you.
Please check in on the moms around you. A simple message, meal, hug, or “How are you really doing?” can make a bigger difference than you know.
Together, we can help break the stigma surrounding maternal mental health and remind mothers everywhere that they deserve support too.
