Pull out your bottles of vodka and let's tincture some purple dead nettle!
Here are the instructions on how to tincture purple dead nettle with vodka:

Start by gathering fresh purple dead nettle leaves and stems. Rinse them thoroughly under running water and pat them dry with a clean towel.

Chop the leaves and stems into small pieces and place them in a clean, sterilized glass jar.

Pour enough vodka over the plant material to cover it completely, making sure there are no air pockets. Use a high-proof vodka, at least 40% alcohol content.

Close the jar tightly with a lid and shake it well to combine the vodka and plant material.

Label the jar with the date and contents, and store it in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks, shaking it every few days.

After 4-6 weeks, strain the tincture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, pressing on the plant material to extract as much liquid as possible.

Store the tincture in a dark-colored glass dropper bottle or a clean, sterilized glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Your purple dead nettle tincture is now ready to use! You can take it orally by adding a few drops to a glass of water or tea, or apply it topically to the skin as needed. Be sure to do a patch test on a small area of skin before using it all over your body.

Whoops, sorry-- life got super busy this week with my daughter's wedding so I missed a prepper challenge post! Since this week is about creating an emergency plan that includes herbal remedies, I'm going to share one of my favorite herbal remedies for stress and anxiety which we deal with in emergency situations. (And when planning a wedding!) Here's one of my favorite relaxing tea recipes:

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers
1 teaspoon dried peppermint leaves
1 teaspoon dried lemon balm leaves
2 cups of water
Honey or lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot or kettle.
Add the dried chamomile flowers, peppermint leaves, and lemon balm leaves to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and strain the tea into a cup or mug.
If desired, you can add a teaspoon of honey or lemon juice to sweeten the tea.
Enjoy your herbal tea while it's still warm.

This tea is a simple and effective way to relax, soothe digestive issues, and boost your overall health. Chamomile helps calm the nervous system, peppermint aids digestion and can reduce nausea, while lemon balm has a calming effect on the body and mind.
