The Luther Vandross Foundation was founded to continue Luther’s legacy of providing financial assistance to students that will be attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Throughout his career he promoted the importance of education. From personal experience he understood the benefit of a student’s learning environment. His strong commitment to learning and participation in higher education was evidenced by his support of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) through donations and appearances. Impact
Statistics show that over 50% of students attending HBCUs are first generation college students and come from low income families. These scholarships are meant to lessen the financial burden on the students, and their families and communities that support them. The goal of the Luther Vandross Foundation is to aid in that support, helping students to graduate and continue their journey to success. Resource

One Resource we offer is a Post-Secondary grant from $500 to $5000 for deemed eligible winners! The candidates must complete our full application, be an Undergraduate full-time student with at least a 2.5 GPA. Our need-based Grant goes towards Tuition and Tuition based fees and it is for students in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year at a HBCU.
