He became the first President of Liberia after the country declared independence in 1847.

Second tenure:
January 1, 1872 – January 3, 1876
He returned to power as the 7th President of Liberia after winning another election.

International Day of A Girl Child is observed globally on 11 October.
It is a day to celebrate the achievements of girls as well as recognise the challenges and barriers that many still face.
The United Nations' theme for 2025 is 'The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of crisis’.

Girls deserve better, with the enormous r**e cases and murder.
