August is Black Business Month! As we bring this month to a close, we want to share our gratitude for everyone who joined us, our Representative Morgan Cephas and our CEO Gregory J. Allen for The Overbrook Night Market (TONM) Beyond The Night Black Business Crawl. Each week, we shopped at different Black and Women owned businesses in Overbrook and the 192nd District. While we wished we could have visited every business, stay tuned for our next Black Business Crawl when we will introduce you to many more businesses. 🗓️ Funding opportunity—less than two weeks remain to submit your application for Boost Your Business, a program to help businesses grow, obtain new contracts, increase revenue, and create jobs for Philadelphians.

20 businesses will be selected to receive a $50,000 forgivable loan that will be forgiven when the business meets its stated growth goals, with additional business support assistance provided throughout the process. An eligible business must make an annual revenue of $350,000 or more.

“District officials announced Thursday they are opening applications on Aug. 31 for new school transition committees. Those committees will be set up for the nine schools closing this academic year, schools receiving students from a closing school in 2027-28, and any school phasing out grade levels at the end of school year 2026-27. Each 20-person committee will include a mix of teachers, school staff, parents, caregivers, community partners, and students.”
