Paw pals 🖊️📬

While the dog they raised is in training, Seeing Eye puppy raisers will receive a handwritten postcard from the instructor who is training the pup they raised with updates on how the dog is doing. Instructors let them know things like what the pup is excelling at, what their favorite off-duty activity is, or even who their best dog friends are.

In addition to the postcard, raisers also receive a letter when the dog has been matched with their handler, which includes an adorable photo of them posing in their harness!

Go Mookie! Mookie was raised in our club - it's so special to get to see them featured after they are matched. We are all so very proud of him.

“Mookie is the youngest of all my guide dogs. I received him when he was just 18 months old, when his puppy traits were apparent and endearing. Within the first couple of days he threw himself over my lap while I was sitting on the floor insisting that I give him a belly rub. At that point I fell in love with my 80 pound furry friend,” Seeing Eye graduate Lori said about her tenth Seeing Eye dog.

PD: Lori and Mookie, her German shepherd Seeing Eye dog, sit before the rink that Lori’s curling club practices on.

A huge thank you to the Kimmel Center Phila Pa and Philly Pops for inviting our Seeing Eye,puppy raisers to enjoy the incredible 🎶Everything I Know 🎶 concert featuring Mandy Gonzalez and José Méndez. From the first note to the final bow, it was a tail-wagging good time.

Our pups (and their humans) were all ears for the stunning performances. Experiences like this help our future service dogs grow confident in all kinds of environments, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to expose them to such note-worthy moments.

Thanks again for making us feel so welcome.
