Saturday we held our fourth annual Russell County Republicans Dove Shoot. Let me tell you it was hot! However, we had a full house, great barbecue lunch, two raffles and some really nice silent auction items.

The hunters got out and it was slow going with the doves. Just too hot. But sure enough we had one heck of a storm with wind and rain coming from every which direction. However, when it stopped raining, the doves came in.

Hats off to all the hunters that endured that storm and hung in there because it paid off.

Thankful for the wonderful opportunity to hunt on beautiful property. Thankful to our members who came and helped put everything together!

Please join us as we help Chris kickoff his campaign for re-election to Alabama Statehouse, District 80. Mid- term elections are critical, to the conservative life of our country. Help us send Chris back to represent each of us.

Meet Chris’s Blackshear, Republican candidate:

Chris Blackshear is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing House District 80, which includes portions of Lee and Russell Counties. He was first elected in a 2016 special election and has served in the Alabama Legislature

A longtime East Alabama community leader, Blackshear brings private-sector experience to his legislative work. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Vice Chairman of the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee, along with assignments on Insurance and Lee County Legislation.

Blackshear has focused his legislative career on economic development, responsible government, education, infrastructure, and strengthening the communities of East Alabama. He is seeking reelection to House District 80 in 2026.

Meet Brent Comer:

Brent Comer is a conservative leader running for Alabama State Senate in District 28. Raised on a farm in the Glennville community near Pittsview, Brent learned the values of hard work, responsibility, faith, and service at an early age—values that continue to guide his life and leadership.
A graduate of Clemson University with a degree in agriculture and business, Brent has spent the past 20 years working in the oil, gas, and energy industries as a professional landman. His career has given him experience in contract negotiation, land management, and responsible resource development.
Brent is also a small business owner who understands firsthand the challenges facing local employers. He co-owns C & S Bagging in Eufaula and East Alabama Vending, where he works every day to meet payroll, manage costs, and keep jobs local.
Deeply invested in his community, Brent serves as treasurer of the Pittsview Civic Society, sits on the board of the Pittsview Volunteer Fire Department, and is vice chairman of the Russell County Republican Executive Committee. He, his wife, Dr. Whitney Comer, and his son William are members of Pittsview Methodist Church.
