Dragonfly Trail Network - Columbus, GA The Dragonfly is Columbus’ network of multipurpose trails promoting recreation and transportation.

The Dragonfly Trails are Columbus’ network of off-road greenway trails that promote recreation, transportation, and connectivity. With a system of interconnected trails throughout Columbus, the Dragonfly improves citizens’ access to jobs, schools, neighborhoods, and the Chattahoochee River. The Dragonfly name was chosen because dragonflies are an indicator species for healthy water in a community. They abound in Columbus, especially after the success of the River Restoration Project that returned the Chattahoochee River to health. The Dragonfly’s partners envision many generations of happy, healthy residents and visitors bicycling and walking throughout the community and connecting in new ways to our river. The Dragonfly Trail Network welcomes your questions, comments, and suggestions to improve the Dragonfly and its connections. The organization is focused on building connections and improving our community; any inflammatory conduct can result in deleting comments and/or blocking accounts. Reminder, Public Information Open House for the Forrest Road & Morris Road Improvement Project, which includes a trail component.

PUBLIC INFORMATION OPEN HOUSE

Columbus Consolidated Government invites residents to learn about proposed improvements to Forrest Road and Morris Road.

📅 Monday, August 31, 2026
⏰ Drop in anytime between 4:00–6:00 p.m.
📍 East Columbus Boys & Girls Club - 3835 Forrest Road

Residents may view project displays, ask questions, share concerns, and provide written comments. No formal presentation will be given.

The proposed improvements include:

Forrest Road—from Macon Road to Woodruff Farm Road/Floyd Road
Morris Road—from Forrest Road to Buena Vista Road

Written comments will be accepted through September 30, 2026.

🚧 RIVERWALK CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

A portion of the Columbus RiverWalk behind the Columbus Civic Center will be closed from Monday, August 31, through Thursday, September 3, while Columbus Water Works performs maintenance on a discharge structure.

Please avoid the closed section, follow all posted signs and use caution near the work area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Dragonfly projects can improve more than just the trail.

At 13th Street & 18th Avenue, we cleaned up a confusing intersection by adding a safer pedestrian crossing with a refuge area and ADA curb ramps, improving the turn lane for vehicles, and extending the bike lane to connect directly to the trail.

The result: clearer paths, better sight lines, and a safer intersection for everyone.
