Today is a day our great country has set aside to Honor those men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice to their Country with their lives.
Originally known as Decoration Day because it was the day on which we would decorate the resting places of the soldiers that were killed in battle by placing wreaths and flags to honor them.

We Honor All who gave their lives in Service.

West Pecan Street, then and now.
On the South side of Pecan St and the East side of 1st St there were 3 buildings set together. Now there are only 2.
The third building on the left side was a Meat Market.
The center building, (now )early on was Lillie French Restaurant and in the 1960's L & M Builder's and 1970's was the Beauty Shop.
The building on the right was in the 60's and early 70's Priem's Tavern.

Thank you to Linda Oertli for giving the photos of before and after the Market was demolished and thank you for helping preserve Pflugerville's past!

Before and after, then and now on East Pecan Street in Downtown Pflugerville.
1900 to 2026.
The buildings have changed little over the past 126 years but the businesses and names have changed a few times.

Congratulations to Vernagene Mott.
She is a big proponent of Heritage House Partners and Pflugerville's history.
She has dedicated her life to Texas education.
You certainly are deserving of the Texas Association of Schoolboards' honor.

🎉 Congratulations, Vernagene Mott! 🎉

TASB is proud to announce Vernagene Mott as the 2026 recipient of the James B. Crow Innovation in Governance Award, honoring her decades-long commitment to strong school board governance and Texas public education.

A former Pflugerville ISD trustee and lifelong educator, Mott spent 21 years serving her community on the school board and more than three decades in the classroom. Her leadership helped advance ethical governance practices, strengthen board operations, and create greater opportunities for students — locally and across the state.

The James B. Crow Award recognizes leaders who have made a lasting impact on public education governance, carrying forward a legacy of service, integrity, and innovation.

👉 Join us in congratulating Vernagene Mott on this well-deserved honor and thanking her for her lifelong dedication to Texas public schools.

Pflugerville, Cele and the Richland communities have always been connected in some manner. In this archive from The Eyes of Texas television program ran from 1969 to 1993 but was still in syndication up to 1999.
The three communities as well as others were intertwined and everyone knew everyone. This episode focuses on Cele and Richland. SJ Richland
