The International Youth Exchange Program offers a life-changing experience on a worldwide level, not only for the youths who travel to one of the 100 or so camps worldwide but also the host families and Lions members who get to meet them. In the summer of 2025, we hosted three youths in our district. A boy from France, a girl from Mongolia and a girl from Poland who were hosted by families in Mequon, Neosho and Watertown, respectively. While all three families were Lions members, that is NOT a requirement. We are looking for any family who is willing to open and share their home and activities with a youth.
While the youths are here, they obviously get to share the activities the families offer them, but we also introduce them to programs that Wisconsin Lions are involved in. We visit the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, spend time with a Leader Dog, participate in Blind Outdoor Leisure Development (B.O.L.D.) events to name a few. Youths are always impressed that Lions do so many things to help improve the lives of people in need.

In addition to host families, we also seek youths age 15-22 who would like to either participate in a camp abroad or even our own camp here in Wisconsin. We also seek young adults age 19 and older to serve as camp counselors. Other ways to help are to provide food supplies for the camp or to help staff at the camp for a day or even stay the week.
