We said goodbye to our friend John Jeffrey today. John died Oct. 16th and his memorial service was held today in Harbor Springs. It was attended by some LLT alumni and LLT Steering Committee members. John was often a part of LLT as either a speaker at one of our sessions or as a commencement speaker. His message was always spot on.

John was the consummate servant leader. Words used today to describe him today were "generous" and "kind." I would add the word, "warmth" as there was a feeling of warmth whenever I was with him. Toby Jones officiated today's service and he used a word that would have never occurred to me, but when it was said, I thought, "perfect." The word was "encourager" and he truly was. John encouraged so many and gave so many people opportunities to grow and excel, and he always had a positive message of support. I can't tell you how many times he complimented me on my work at the Petoskey Chamber.

We should all aspire to live our lives like John Jeffrey. He truly led by example and has personally inspired me over the years. I will miss him terribly. I know many of our LLT friends are impacted by this devastating loss as well.

Thank you John for your gifts to our schools, our community, and to Leadership Little Traverse. Your legacy will continue to live for many years to come.
