This is heartbreaking news to share; our beloved president, Chris Struble, has passed away.

We at the Michigan Hemingway Society are devastated by his loss. Chris’s brilliance was noted by so many in the Hemingway community, but it was his kindness, compassion, sense of humor, and huge heart that people remembered most of all.

Chris was open about his struggles with mental illness and wanted the stigma and shame around it to end. Call or text 988 if you are in crisis; for a list of resources, see the comments.

Happy 125th Birthday to a writer that published several stories inspired by his boyhood summers spent on Wallon Lake in northern Michigan. Hemingway came to the family cottage called "Windemer" for the first time in the fall of 1899. Enjoy the celebrations taking place today in his honor including the event posted below in his beloved Horton's Bay . Look for a special event next year as we celebrate his 125th summer "Up in Michigan " !

The National, currently moth balled and exactly as it was in 1884. The Perry, as mentionrd above is still operational . And the Moyer, currently under stalled renovation . And Hemingway was wounded in Fossalta Di Piave which is in Italy not Spain . History is too important to not be recorded accurately .

“It is a beautiful downtown. And that’s why I came back,” says Amy Tweeten, manager for Petoskey Downtown. Tweeten recently moved bac...
