Announcing our 2026 Keynote Speaker! Returning scholar, Dr. Malcolm Guite!
Dr. Malcolm Guite is a poet and priest, and Life Fellow of Girton College, Cambridge. He lives in Norfolk, England, and lectures widely in England and North America on Theology and Literature. His books include “Sounding the Seasons: Seventy Sonnets for the Christian Year,” “The Singing Bowl: Collected Poems,” “Parable and Paradox,” “Mariner: A Voyage with Samuel Taylor Coleridge,” “After Prayer,” “The Word Within the Words,” and “Lifting the Veil.”
In 2023, Malcolm was awarded the Archbishop Lanfranc Medal for Education and Scholarship by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Malcolm’s work is characterized by his deep engagement with the Christian faith, his love of traditional poetic forms, and his ability to make ancient wisdom accessible to contemporary readers. With “Merlin’s Isle: Galahad & the Grail,” Malcolm embarks on his most ambitious project: a four-volume epic reimagining the Arthurian legends.
We’re thrilled to have Malcolm returning to Petoskey to help us expound upon “Remember Your Fairy Tales: Finding Hope with Lewis & Tolkien” this fall!

Attention, youth poets!
The C.S. Lewis Festival is seeking poetry to feature at its Community Arts Night on October 2, 2026.
Youth, up to 18 years of age, are invited to submit a poem about C.S. Lewis, his “The Chronicles of Narnia,” J.R.R. Tolkien, his “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, or fairy tales, all to fit our 2026 theme: Remember Your Fairy Tales—Finding Hope in Lewis & Tolkien. Poems may not exceed one page of double-spaced, 11-point font content.
The two top poems selected will be featured on the C.S. Lewis Festival’s social media accounts, announced in our monthly e-newsletter, and the winner will receive a curated book bag made possible through an educational grant awarded by the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation. The winning poets will also be invited to read their poems on stage during the Community Arts Night.
Poems must be submitted by Friday, July 31, 2026.

Last Saturday, the C.S. Lewis Festival sponsored a table at the inaugural Storykeepers Ball at The Boathouse on Lake Charlevoix in East Jordan—and the centerpiece turned out perfectly!
Focusing on Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, and especially the one that started it all—The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe—C.S. Lewis Festival Assistant Director Alex Dailey put her creativity to work with fairy lights, a miniature wardrobe, greenery, an Aslan representative, and, of course, books!
We were excited to promote Lewis, his works, and the 2026 Festival by participating in this bookish ball celebrating all genres of reading. We hope to see some familiar faces from Saturday night at our Festival this fall!
Cheers to community events, camaraderie amongst readers, and a love for story!
