Peterson Heritage’s last Sunday in the Park event for the season has been cancelled. With the forecast calling for near record high temperatures in the upper 90’s, visiting and manning our “unairconditioned” historical sites is not very appealing. Plus we did not want our visiting vendors sitting out in the heat. (Side bar: As unpleasant as the heat and humidity are for us, it certainly reinforces our appreciation for those early settlers who spent their lives living and working in these very houses through all types of weather, and probably felt fortunate because the homes were so much better than their former log cabins.). We thank all who have supported our “Summer in the Park” events, and we look forward to next summer.

A HUGE thank you to two of our Heritage members, Jim Larson and David Peterson, who just spent a very, very hot morning working in the Machinery Museum. Jim and David spent the morning moving and rearranging the farm implements so our electrician can access all of the ceiling light fixtures. They are being replaced with LED light fixtures. They also got the old Peterson State Bank sign hung up, which was no easy task, either! Be sure to stop by the Machinery Museum Saturday, August 5th, during Peterson Fire Days to check it out.

A big “thank you” to everyone who attended our first “Sunday in the Park” event and for supporting the Peterson Firemen who served the noon meal. Mark your calendars for the next event, Sunday, July 2nd.
